📢 PLANNING APPLICATION – EXTENSION TO CONSULTATION DEADLINE

The public consultation period for the following planning application has been extended to 25 September 2026.

📍 Land East of Horseshoe Farm, Main Road, Bicknacre, Chelmsford, Essex

🏠 Proposal: Outline planning application for the er****on of up to 99 dwellings, including affordable housing, together with public open space, landscaping, a sustainable drainage system (SuDS) and a vehicular access point. All matters are reserved except for access.

The extension gives local residents and members of the public additional time to view the application and submit comments or objections to Chelmsford City Council.

📢 PLANNING APPLICATION – LAND EAST OF HORSESHOE FARM, BICKNACRE

Residents may wish to be aware that a planning application has been submitted for a significant residential development on land east of Horseshoe Farm, Main Road, Bicknacre.

Planning reference: 26/00896/OUT

The application is for up to 99 dwellings, including affordable housing, together with public open space, landscaping, sustainable drainage (SuDS) and a vehicular access point.

This is an outline application, with all matters reserved except for access.

Given the scale of the proposal, we would strongly encourage residents to look at the application and supporting documents and, importantly, submit your own comments to Chelmsford City Council.

Whether you support the proposal, object to it, or simply have observations or concerns, please make your views known. Comments submitted by residents form an important part of the planning process.

Temporary Traffic Regulation Order of Workhouse Lane, Woodham Ferrers.
Please click on the following link https://one.network/?tm=GB150280503 to find details of the intended closure of Workhouse Lane, due to commence on 28th August 2026 for 5 days. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while Openreach undertakes pole replacement works.

⚠️ Temporary Closure of The Hooe Playing Field Equipment ⚠️

Following an inspection today, the Parish Council and its qualified playground inspector have taken the decision to temporarily close all recreational equipment at the playing field due to ground shrinkage caused by the recent prolonged hot weather.

This closure applies to:

🛝 Children's Play Equipment
🚴 Bike Trails
🏋️ Outdoor Gym Equipment

The safety of residents is the Council's highest priority. Ground movement caused by the dry conditions can affect the stability of equipment, making it unsafe to use.

Please do not use any of the above facilities until further notice. Signs have been erected around the site, and the equipment will remain closed while ground conditions are monitored.

We appreciate that this may be disappointing, particularly during the school holidays, but we hope everyone understands that this decision has been made solely in the interests of public safety.

The team can check your child's vaccination record, answer your questions and provide advice on catching up with any missed vaccinations.

This is particularly important if your child is:
✅ Starting primary school
✅ Moving to secondary school
✅ Starting college, sixth form or university
✅ New to the UK
✅ Known to have missed previous vaccinations

If you're unsure, you can also check your child's Red Book, use the NHS App, or contact your GP practice.
