Update on Pavilion playground.

I know there's alot of conversations regarding the park and access. I just want to put the information out there so that residents are fully informed of what has happened and why the delay in opening the park.

The evening when the encampment left the Pavillion grounds:

I arrived at the park on Friday evening just after the encampment had left with Parish Cllr Linda.

I had been informed by Police earlier that the park was damaged to the extent that work would be required to make it safe.
But to what extent, i was fully able to see when i arrived...

The photos below show exactly what we saw when we arrived and from them i hope you are able to appreciate the extent of work that would be required and the time and processes required to get the park fully operational again.

My advice is simple, for safety of your children please avoid the park until the extensive works are carried out

As soon as i know anything more about when the repairs will be carried out i will update you on here.

I want to thank Parsh Cllr Linda Tompkins and my son Safwan for helping clear the bricks away to make the site safe immediately.

They did this whilst being on site less than 24 hours... Just imagine they stayed longer.
I know the Parish clerk is working hard to open the park to the public as soon as possible.

Myself, Parish Cllr Linda Tompkins and Parish Cllr Jeff Price have been out in the playing fields and play area to have a look around.

The litter has been bagged and ready for collection. The advice from the Parish Council is to stay off site until further inspection which the Clerk Kim Gray has arranged.

The unauthorised encampment have left Upton....

Thank you to Cheshire Police and Cheshire West and Chester Council for their ongoing support throughout the last 22 hours.

Getting things done.

I have just spoken to the unauthorised encampment officer who informs me that he has spoken to the Inspector.

Due to Significant disruption to the community he has authorised the use of Police powers Section 60c to remove the encampment from the land and he has given them til 8pm tonight to remove themselves.

Disruption includes:
(Dogs off lead, horse quad bike, well used community facility).

This is a Police notice therefore Police can enforce.

They will allocate a couple of officers to serve the notice this afternoon for 8 pm.
Police will enforce the order if they don't move by 8pm.

The encampment have been advised that they cannot go to and remain in high impact places.

Update regarding unauthorised encampment

I have spoken to the Unauthorised encampment officer (aka Traveller Liasion officer) who has informed me that he will be completing an assessment in the next few minutes.

He will then liase with the Chester Inspector to discuss ways forward.

I re iterared how the community are feeling and i made him aware of the substantial impact on the Upton Community, the fields, and the environment.

I also added that as a community we should not be left to pick up any mess that they may leave behind.

I am hoping to receive a further update by mid day..

I will liaise and work with them to get this encampment moved as soon as possible.

***There are other Unauthorised encampments today, this encampment is the first one to be dealt with due to the nature of the impact to Upton residents***
