United Services Club - Chester

United Services Club - Chester United Services ex-serviceman's club in Chester. The Club key was presented to Lt Gen Sir H de Beauvoir-De-Lisle at the opening ceremony of the club in 1921.

The key was later acquired and given to the Club by Lt Col W.E. Brown DSO MG and is on view in the club

Lt Gen Sir H de Beauvoir-De-Lisle 1864 -1955 aged 90
He attained the rank of General and held various commands including GOC-in-Chief of Western Command until 1923 he retired in 1926. He saw service in Egypt where he won the DSO and fought in the 2nd Boar War and WW1. An avid polo player his sk

ills were well known and he spent much of the years 1929 to 1930 training polo teams for the Maharaja in India. The club moved to its current premises’ in the 1970’s from Watergate Street.
