Over the summer holidays, Let’s Connect Communities Together delivered a fantastic programme of family activities supported through funding from the Three Pits Small Grants Scheme. ☀️

From DJ workshops and Water Walkers to Nerf battles, non-contact boxing and minibeast sessions, local families enjoyed fun, creative and wellbeing-focused activities, along with free picnic-style lunches.

The grant funding also helped encourage residents to take part in the Pride in Place survey, which will help shape how £20 million of investment is prioritised across North Wingfield, Grassmoor, Tupton, Holmewood and Heath over the next decade.

Barnes Park was transformed into a seaside destination for Grassmoor by the Sea on 16 August, with families enjoying sand pits, volleyball, soft play, bouncy castles and more. 🏖️

North East Derbyshire District Council is consulting on proposals to extend the current Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) that helps tackle the antisocial use of vehicles across the district.

Unauthorised encampment, Wingerworth

We are aware of the unauthorised traveller encampment at Wingerworth and are working closely with partner organisations and the landowner to address the situation.

As part of our procedures, welfare checks have been carried out to ensure that the needs of those on site have been assessed, and waste and recycling facilities have been provided to help minimise any impact on the local area.

The taskforce, alongside partner agencies, local ward councillors and the landowner, is actively working to secure the site as swiftly and safely as possible. We understand residents may have concerns and would like to reassure the community that all appropriate action is being taken in line with established procedures and legal requirements."

Residents who experience or witness anti-social behaviour are encouraged to report it to North East Derbyshire District Council on 01246 231 111 so that concerns can be recorded and investigated. Any criminal activity should be reported to Derbyshire Police on 101 or 999 in an emergency

A Nottingham based business has paid a £300 fixed penalty notice in relation to a fly tipping incident in Stainsby. In May 2026 Council Enforcement Officers investigated an illegal deposit of waste on Rowthorne Lane. 📢

Evidence was found in the waste linking it to the business who had used a contractor to remove waste. The business admitted to failing to check the contractor was licenced to carry waste which is an offence.

The business accepted and paid the £300 fixed penalty notice to prevent the matter going to court. The investigation is ongoing.
