ADLINGTON PLAY AREA UPGRADE

The long awaited refurbishment of play equipment at Adlington Recreation Ground is due to start next week.

Our contractor, HAGS, and their installers will be on site the week commencing Monday 19th October 2026 to remove the old play equipment and bring in the new.

Works are expected to last between 5 to 6 weeks.

During this time, the play area will be out of use, but the field and football pitch will be accessible.

WINGERWORTH PUPILS NEED YOU! 🫵

Do you or somebody you know have a spare hour at school drop-off and pick-up times to help the pupils of Deer Park Primary School or Hunloke Park Primary School get to school safely?

There are 2 longstanding vacancies for paid School Crossing Patrol Officers (Lollipop Person) in Wingerworth.

Derbyshire County Council has advertised the positions for some time but nobody has yet come forward.

The first vacancy is at Longedge Lane/Lydgate Drive between 8.25am - 9.00am and 3:15pm and 3:50pm.

The second vacancy is at Lodge Drive/Longedge Lane between 8.30am - 9.05am and 3:15pm and 3:45pm.

Take a look at what's on at Wingerworth Parish Hall this month, including dancing, keep fit, Pilates, Tots and Toddlers, Ladies Club, art workshops, yoga, short mat bowls, table tennis and Slimming World.

We are also home to the Wingerworth Library, monthly Community Association talks and the weekly Friendly Space gatherings.

A civic service to remember the lives touched by conflict and recalling the lives of loved ones lost.

To be held at the Parish Hall on Wednesday 11th November 2026.

The public are asked to arrive from 10.30am for an approximate start time of 10.45am.

Refreshments will be served before and after the service.

WINGERWORTH CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAYRE 2026

Taking place on Saturday 14th November 2026 at Wingerworth Parish Hall.

Doors open between 10am and 4pm. Entry is free.

Come and browse over 20 stalls selling unique Christmas crafts and gifts by the crafters of Wingerworth.

There will be a raffle and refreshments on offer.

All proceeds, after expenses, will be split equally between the Parish Council's 2 annual local good causes; Friends of Deer Park Primary School and Hunloke Park Primary School PTA.

PLEASE NOTE: All stalls have been allocated and there are no more stalls available for crafters.

WHERE:
Birkin Lane, Wingerworth between a point 120 metres southwest of the junction with Malthouse Lane for a
distance of 280 metres in a south westerly direction.

REASON:
To facilitate manhole cover and frame renewal works.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE:

CANCELLED - Wingerworth Village Produce and Craft Show

The Parish Council has taken the regrettable decision to cancel the Wingerworth Village Produce and Craft Show which was due to take place this weekend.

Sadly, like last year, the prolonged period of hot weather has led to a poor growing season and resulted in very few applications for entries.

Rather than holding a show that has a poor turnout and before spending any further money on the event and refreshments, it was thought best not to proceed.

A lot of work has gone into advertising, promoting and preparing for the event over the past few months to generate applications and interest, but sadly there remains little enthusiasm in the community to take part in the show.

I know some people who will be disappointed by this decision and we sincerely apologise to them for the inconvenience.

A big thank you to everybody who has offered to help and support the event.

Again, if you can help to spread this message, I would be grateful.
