🌧️💨 Wet and windy one today, folks!

PCSO Ashton has been out bright and early this morning, taking positive steps to help prevent any further nuisance motorbike issues in the community 🏍️🚫
Positive work has also been carried out in conjunction with Bolsover District Council along with continued joint patrols with their CAN Rangers. 👮‍♂️🤝

PCSO Ashton also called in for a quick catch-up at Woburn House and Newton’s Methodist Church in Newton and Blackwell today. 🏡⛪

Top tips to protect your bicycle:

• Ensure you keep your bicycle in a safe place with an efficient lock.
Double lock your bike if possible. There are some recommendations for locks on https://orlo.uk/hp9iG

• Consider high security for where you keep your bicycle - good
quality CCTV, shed alarms, window alarms and door locks

• Register your bike on the
national database

• Get your bike security
marked. It’s a highly
effective, visible deterrent
to bike thieves and take images of your bike and make a note of the exact model, frame
number, size and colour.

Register the ownership details of your bike for FREE and make them viewable to the
police nationwide for life at https://orlo.uk/YK7AU
It only takes a couple of minutes to register, all you need is your bikes make, model,
frame or other identifying numbers, plus take a few photographs for your records.
Once registered you will have a greater chance of getting it back if it is stolen. This is
because the identifiers and your contact details are viewable on the police national
stolen property database system.

• Insure your bike - bikes are often worth a high amount of money therefore should be insured correctly.

If your bike is recovered you will be contacted by the police and given the appropriate recovery information.

A bicycle is stolen on average every minute, less than 5% of these are returned as the police are unable to trace the
owner. Take action against thieves and register and protect.

• Protect your data - review your privacy settings on apps.
These apps track your GPS and often cyclist start there tracks
from home (eg Strava). This indicates who has bicycles in the local area, pinpointed to exact locations.

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcomes and catch-ups during today’s engagements and patrols around Tibshelf, Newton, Westhouses, Blackwell and Hilcote. 👋🏼

📍 Intelligence has been added regarding further Surrons seen around Blackwell and Hilcote.

⚽️ Nice and quiet on the fields in Blackwell and Newton today and thankfully no parking issues currently in Tibshelf. 👍🏼

🌙 Evening all! 👋

Tonight’s patrols have continued around Blackwell, focusing on monitoring and prevention following the calls and information we’ve received regarding motorbikes and e-bikes being ridden around the area. 🚲🏍️
We’ve carried out visits and had some positive discussions based on local intelligence. Hopefully, you’ll start to see the outcomes of this work and a return to a little more peace and quiet around the community. 🤝🙂

We’re also continuing to notice surron type e-bikes travelling from the Five Pits area and through towards South Normanton. 👀🚲 These will continue to be monitored, and we’ll be catching up with them too.

Finally, a bit of rain to wake up those yellow fields and give the plants a much needed water!!! 🌧️🌱

A quick check in today around Blackwell and Tibshelf Village Hall, where we’ve been celebrating a few birthdays coming up over the next few days. 🎂🎈 So ---- Happy Birthday to you ! 🥳🎉

I’m also aware of the continued issues with nuisance motorbikes around Scanderlands Field. 🏍️ Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to provide information and report what you’ve seen — it really does help.

Please continue to report incidents through 101, or 999 if there is an immediate danger or an incident requiring a response. 📞

The rider has been spoken to before and advice has been given already - If they continue to ignore that advice and the bike is being used unlawfully, the motorcycle may be seized when we catch up with it. 🚔

Please keep the information coming and keep reporting it. Your reports help us build a picture of what is happening and take appropriate action. 👍

🚔 COMMUNITY UPDATE – SCANDERLANDS FIELD, BLACKWELL 🚔

👮 PCSO Ashton has been out and about today attending a number of community catch-ups and has received several complaints regarding nuisance motor/monkey bikes being used around Scanderlands Field, off Gloves Lane, Blackwell.

🚨Just a reminder to local residents and those using the field that there is CCTV covering the area, including cameras operated by the Parish Council and nearby residents.

Please be aware: if these bikes are being used on the public highway without the appropriate licence and insurance, police have powers under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 to seize vehicles being driven without a licence or insurance.⚠️
There are also circumstances where vehicles being used off-road in a manner causing alarm, distress or annoyance, or in a way that contravenes relevant road traffic requirements, may be subject to police action, including seizure under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002.

PCSO Ashton has already spoken to a few individuals recently regarding the use of these bikes, so please take the advice on board - 🏍️ If you own or ride a motorbike/monkey bike, please ensure it is being used legally and responsibly, on suitable private land with the landowner's permission and with appropriate safety equipment and precautions.
