Cervical screening is one of the best ways to protect yourself from cervical cancer, so it’s important to take up your invitation when it arrives.

If you’ve missed your cervical screening, the NHS may invite you to take an HPV self-test instead. If invited, you can order a kit, take your sample at home or somewhere private, and return it free by post.

You can’t opt in to HPV self-testing – if you’re eligible, the NHS will contact you.

On Saturday 15 August 2026, four members of our hospital to home team bravely took on the challenge of abseiling down Derby Cathedral to raise money for Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity (UHDB).

The hospital to home team are based at the Royal Derby Hospital and are part of the integrated discharge team.

Together, they conquered their fears, stepped outside of their comfort zones and successfully completed the abseil, raising over ÂŁ1,000 for a charity that is close to many of our hearts.

Their courage, determination and commitment to supporting local patients and families is truly inspiring. The challenge was no small feat, but the team embraced it with enthusiasm and demonstrated the values of compassion, teamwork and community that Community First embodies every day.

We are incredibly proud of their achievement, not only for taking on such a daunting challenge, but for raising an amazing amount of money for such a worthwhile cause.

Pictured from left to right are Claudia Lancashire (social worker), Beth Reed (social worker), Jane Haywood (service manager) and Sam Timmis (social care assessor).

Well done Team Community First Hospital to Home – we're all very proud of you! 💙
