Reception class turned yellow along with the whole school today as part of Hello Yellow Day in support of World Mental Health Day. 🟡
As well as taking part in the keep fit session with Mrs Wright and receiving their wellbeing cards, the children coloured in yellow pictures to celebrate how wonderful and super duper they are ☀️☀️☀️

💛 Today, our whole school, including Nursery, celebrated Hello Yellow Day for World Mental Health Day.
Children and staff came to school wearing something yellow to help us raise awareness of the importance of positive mental health and wellbeing.
Throughout the day, children enjoyed a range of wellbeing activities, took part in a fun Keep Fit and Healthy movement session led by Mrs Wright, which encouraged everyone to get active and feel good, and received a special reminder from our Wellbeing Champions that they are valued, important and special.
It was wonderful to see our school community come together to celebrate positivity, kindness and the importance of looking after our mental health. 💛🌟

Roman Day in Year 4
It was like real life Horrible Histories in Year 4 today… This morning, we met a Roman soldier called Titus. We learnt why the Romans invaded Britain and why it took so long. We also asked lots of questions about the Roman Empire.
After that, we learnt about Roman soldiers and army training then got trained up for battle using wooden swords and shields.
In the afternoon, we handled lots of replica artefacts, including armour, weapons, tools, clothing and cooking pots.
Back in the hall, we learnt about Roman entertainment such as the Circus Maximus and the Roman Colosseum before we re-enacted gladiator fights and gruesome Roman sporting spectacles!
What a day we’ve had! 🤯

📖Today, we took part in a Guinness World Record attempt to get the most people reading at the same time, organised by the National Literacy Trust📕
On Zoom, we heard from author Frank Cottrell Boyce about his love of books, writing and reading.
You could’ve heard a pin drop in Year 4 as the children got fully immersed in the stories and non fiction they were reading.

The children in Reception Class sent in photos of themselves as babies as part of our “Marvellous Me” topic.

The children loved looking at the pictures and guessing which one of their classmates was the baby in the picture. We talked about their different features and looked for clues as to who each baby was. Lots of fun! And some children even guessed correctly! Some were definitely easier than others 😃

On Friday, Y5 took part in a poetry and empathy workshop.
As part of this, they were tasked with their own 'If I...' poems and also we shared one of our recent pieces of work linked to Mrs Hancock and The Riley Graves.

We’ve had a great time at Linacre today for year 3’s first Forest School session.
We’ve been den building, creating nature art, playing games, climbing and balancing, swinging in hammocks and exploring the woodland environment.

Reception children has a special treat this afternoon when the Year 2 children came in to read them their versions of the story ‘Funnybones’ that they had written. What a treat! The stores were fabulous and the Reception children loved listening to them. Thank you Year 2 ⭐️⭐️
