NB John Varley II A trip boat on Chesterfield Canal owned by Chesterfield Canal Trust based at Tapton Lock Visitor Cen The boat offers a range of trips and private charters.

John Varley II is a trip boat licenced to carry 12 passengers. It is owned and managed by Chesterfield Canal Trust and crewed by volunteers. All the crew are trained and skippers are licenced by the National Community Boat Association and all have first aid training.

STOP PRESS! The archaeological dig at Bellhouse Lane has uncovered some fascinating history so There will be an Open Day on Saturday 26th October. There will be guided tours at 10.00, 11.00, 12.00, 14.00 and 15.00. No need to book, just turn up.
Oh and if you needed another reason to visit the new bridge will also be open to walk across!

Before we do the next stage of restoration at Staveley, we have engaged York Archaeology to organise an archaeological dig at Bellhouse Basin in Staveley.

We have an amazing time!! My niece’s daughter said it was magical’ scored it 1 million out of 10! Great experience and such lovely volunteers looking after you - of course Santa was fantastic too 🙂
