We hope you've all had a fantastic summer break!

As we look forward to welcoming students back to school on Tuesday 8 September, our staff have already begun preparing for a great start to the new academic year.

To help everyone arrive ready to learn, we wanted to share a few reminders about our school equipment and uniform expectations. We know that some items, such as mini whiteboards, can be difficult to find, so we have purchased one for every student ready for their return.

We will also have essential equipment available to purchase with cash on Tuesday morning before Mentor Time, ensuring everyone has what they need for a successful start to term.

All students should return to school wearing the correct uniform. This includes a school blazer, shirt and tie, trousers or a skirt with tights, and black shoes. Thank you for helping us maintain our high standards of appearance and readiness for learning.

If you have any questions or need any support, please don't hesitate to get in touch. The school office will be open on Friday 4 September and Monday 7 September, and our Pastoral Team will also be available to help.

We can't wait to see everyone back on Tuesday and start another fantastic year together.

Parkside Community Secondary School celebrates GCSE Results Day

Parkside Community Secondary School in Chesterfield is celebrating the hard work, determination, and individual achievements of its Year 11 students as they receive their GCSE results today.

The school is particularly proud of the many students who have achieved strong results across a wide range of subjects, reflecting the commitment and perseverance they have shown throughout their secondary education.

Among this year’s cohort are students who have secured exceptional grades, students who have achieved results that enable their next steps into post-16 education and those who have overcome significant challenges to reach their goals. These individual successes are a source of enormous pride for the whole Parkside community.

Staff at Parkside are delighted to see students celebrating achievements that open the door to the next stage of their education, whether that is sixth form, college, apprenticeships, training or employment.

Headteacher Andy Kelly said:

“I am incredibly proud of our students and everything they have achieved. Behind every result is a huge amount of hard work, determination and resilience, and today is a chance to celebrate each and every young person. They have done themselves, their families and the whole Parkside community proud.”

The school also recognises the dedication of its teaching and support staff, whose encouragement and commitment have helped students to reach their potential, as well as the vital support provided by parents and carers.

While every student’s journey is different, Parkside is proud to celebrate the individual successes of this year group and wishes all of its students every success as they take their next steps.

What an incredible year it has been! We are so proud of everything our students have achieved this term and throughout the year. Their hard work, resilience, and determination have been truly inspiring.

One week ago, our stage came alive for another unforgettable Parkside's Got Talent! 🌟

The evening was packed with incredible performances, celebrating the creativity, confidence and dedication of our students. From captivating dance routines and powerful solo singers to talented bands, every performer wowed the audience and made the night one to remember.

A huge thank you to everyone from our school and local community who came along to support the event. Your encouragement and enthusiasm created an amazing atmosphere and meant so much to our performers.

Congratulations to every student who took to the stage—you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves. We’re already looking forward to next year's show! 🎤🎶👏

This half term, Year 9 have been putting their creativity and engineering skills to the test as part of our Cardboard Project by designing and building their own Transformers! 🤖🚗

The photos show each student's Transformer in both robot form and vehicle mode, demonstrating the impressive mechanisms and creative designs they have developed. Fantastic work from everyone involved – well done, Year 9! 👏

🌟 Aspiration Day at Parkside! 🌟

Today, we celebrated Aspiration Day, encouraging our students to think big, dream boldly, and explore the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

Throughout the day, students had the chance to hear from a fantastic range of guest speakers and organisations, giving them a real insight into different career pathways. A huge thank you to DANCOP, Learning Curve for delivering engaging sessions on Health & Social Care and Hair & Beauty, and our local PCSO for sharing their experiences and inspiring our students to consider a wide variety of future careers.

The fun didn't stop there! Our staff also got involved by dressing up as the careers they dreamed of having when they were younger. From emergency services and healthcare professionals to athletes, teachers and more, it was wonderful to see everyone embracing the spirit of the day and sharing their own aspirations with our students.

At Parkside, we believe every young person should be encouraged to aim high, discover their passions, and realise that with hard work and determination, their ambitions really can become reality.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make today such an inspiring and memorable event, we even had a spot of Karaoke at lunch to encourage our future popstars! ✨

🎉 Happy 100th Birthday, May! 🎉

When Belvedere House got in touch to share their goal of collecting 100 birthday cards for May's 100th birthday, our students were only too happy to help! 💌

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our school community, Parkside proudly contributed 33 birthday cards to help May reach this incredible milestone.

It was a privilege to meet you, May, and to be part of such a special celebration. We hope you had a wonderful 100th birthday filled with love, laughter, and lots of happy memories! ❤️🎂

🎉 What a fantastic day yesterday was! 🎉

Our school was buzzing with energy as students took part in an incredible House Sports Day filled with excitement, teamwork, and plenty of friendly competition! 🏃🏏🏓

From sprinting, cricket, table tennis, and boccia to the much-loved classics of the egg and spoon race and tug of war, there was something for everyone. It was wonderful to see our house spirit come alive, with students proudly dressed in their house colours, covered in glitter, and creating amazing banners to cheer on their teams. ❤️💛💚💙

A huge congratulations to everyone who took part and gave it their all. Your enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and support for one another made the day truly memorable.

🏆 Congratulations to our overall House Sports Day champions – Rhodes (Red) House! ❤️

And of course, we couldn't forget the fiercely contested staff tug of war… a big well done to Peak (Green) House, who claimed the staff bragging rights! 💚💪
