| A woman has been charged with theft from a shop in Chesterfield town centre.

Stephanie Coggan, of Winster Road, Sheffield was arrested after allegedly stealing a bottle of perfume from the Boots store, in Low Pavement on 21 May.

The 38-year-old was additionally charged with a number of alleged shop thefts in the Sheffield area and was remanded to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court on 22 May.

At the Magistrates hearing she was further remanded into prison custody and is next due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates Court on 12 June.

We are sharing this update as part of the new Chesterfield Town Centre Partnership – a collaboration between Chesterfield Borough Council, Derbyshire Constabulary and Chesterfield Community Trust to help tackle anti-social behaviour and provide early intervention and support for vulnerable people.

The team will carry out high visibility patrols, undertake licensing checks, offer regulatory advice and engage directly with local businesses seven days a week – to bring a stronger, more visible presence of multiskilled officers in the town centre.

Christopher STEVENSON, age 47yrs of no fixed abode has been arrested, charged and remanded today for Theft from shop and Breach of Criminal Behaviour Order after being sighted by our council enforcement colleagues who talked the team in to make the arrest.

🚨 Community Safety Message – Protect Your Property & Vehicles 🚨

We’ve recently seen an increase in thefts in the area
We’re asking everyone to take a few simple steps to help protect your property:

🔒 Lock it, don’t risk it – Always lock your doors and windows, even if you’re only leaving for a short time.
🔑 Remove keys – Never leave keys in the ignition or inside your vehicle.
💼 Hide valuables – Keep bags, tools, and other items out of sight or take them with you.
🚗 Vehicle security – Double-check your vehicle is locked and consider using additional security like steering locks or alarms.
📹 Lighting & CCTV – Good lighting and home security systems can act as a strong deterrent.
👀 Stay vigilant – Report any suspicious activity in your area.

By taking these steps, we can work together to reduce crime and keep our community safe.

| Wanted appeal update: Kristian Allen located

Kristian Allen, who we wanted to speak to in connection with criminal damage, stalking, assault, escaping lawful custody and for failing to appear at court, is no longer being sought by officers.

Thank you to everyone who shared our original appeal to locate the 31-year-old.

Carl Pegg, 38yrs of no fixed abode was arrested and charged for Theft from shop by the Town Centre SNT on 22nd May 2026 after a call from B&M stating a male had stolen over £130 worth of goods. Retail crime is a priority for the team and we are determined to make Chesterfield Town Centre a hostile place for thieves.

Today SNT were in the marketplace hosting a mobile knife amnesty, providing a safe and secure way for individuals to dispose of knives responsibly.
The event also helped raise awareness around knife crime and its impact, giving us the opportunity to engage with the community about keeping our town safe. Thank you to everyone who came along to speak with us.

Stephanie COGGAN, 38yrs of Winster Rd, Sheffield was yesterday arrested, charged and remanded to court by the Town Centre SNT for Theft from Boots, Low Pavement, Chesterfield. This was a joint effort by the newly formed Town Centre Partnership Team.
