| Man found unresponsive in Chesterfield street | Reference 808-151026

We were called to reports that a man had been found unresponsive in Hawksley Avenue, Chesterfield, close to the junctions of Fairfield Road and West Street at 4.30pm yesterday (15 October).

The man, who is in his 70s, has been taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition. His family are aware.

Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of the incident and anyone with any information, in particular anyone who may have witnessed any of the moment prior to the man being found.

Anyone with any information, in particular dashcam or CCTV that may cover the area, is asked to contact the force using any of the methods detailed below, including reference 808-151026:

🎥 In this short update, I explain our local policing priorities, how we decide where to focus our resources, and the work taking place across Chesterfield to address the issues that matter most to our communities.
Our priorities are shaped by reports and calls for service, intelligence and local knowledge from our PCs and PCSOs, and feedback received through our Community Voice surveys. Your concerns help inform where we focus our time and resources.
📍 Some recent progress and priorities include:
🚔 Nuisance and off-road bikes: Nine of our eleven neighbourhoods have identified nuisance bikes as a priority. Over the weekend, officers seized three off-road bikes in Queen’s Park as part of our ongoing enforcement activity. We have a bespoke operation to tackle this ongoing issue and rely on community intelligence to inform us who is riding these bikes, and where they are ridden and stored. We will take action on information and intelligence we receive.
👥 Youth-related anti-social behaviour: In Staveley, a targeted problem management plan addressing repeat incidents at an abandoned building has helped us identify three individuals, take positive action and achieve a reduction in reported incidents of ASB.
🛍️ Town centre retail crime: Reported shop theft fell by 20%, from 70 offences between March and June to 56 between June and September. We will continue targeting prolific offenders and working with local businesses through ShopWatch.
🏙️ Town centre anti-social behaviour: Retail crime and vagrancy remain priorities, with an increased focus on youth-related anti-social behaviour. We will continue working with Chesterfield Borough Council, local businesses, youth engagement teams and other partners to address these concerns. Since the introduction of our Town Centre Partnership team we have made 54 arrests and completed 34 stop searches within the town centre and will continue to take action against those who visit the town centre to commit crime and anti-social behaviour.

These results demonstrate the importance of visible policing, targeted enforcement and effective problem-solving with our partners. There is more work to do, and we remain committed to tackling the issues that affect residents, businesses and visitors.

Paul MULLINS aged 51yrs of Longcroft Court, CHESTERFIELD, attended Chesterfield Magistrates Court on the 8th October 2026. This was after being charged with numerous offences including assault, breaching a Community Protection Notice and public order offences, all of which took place in Chesterfield Town Centre and the area around West Bars and Chatsworth Road.

MULLINS pleaded guilty to these offences, and as a result he has been ordered to pay costs and compensation to the total of £567.

The Chesterfield Town Centre Partnership Team take all reports of antisocial behaviour extremely seriously. If you see anyone acting in a way that is antisocial and causing alarm and distress to members of the public, please let us know.

On Friday 16th October between 14:00 & 16:00 Chesterfield Safer Neighbourhood team will be present at Queen's Park for a Priority Setting engagement.

As a Safer Neighbourhood team we are wanting to work alongside our partner agencies to make the park a safer space for members of the public.

We are hoping that this engagement will allow members of the public to raise any concerns and allow Police and Partner Agencies to tackle issues that are raised.

🚲 FREE Bike Marking at both Queen's Park & Somersall Park 🚲

Do you own a bike? Protect it against theft by getting it security marked and registered with BikeRegister completely free of charge by your local SNT officers.

What you need to bring:

1: YOUR BIKE

2: ACCESS TO A VALID EMAIL ADDRESS ( you will need to verify at the time of marking to be added to the register).

Officers will be at Queen's Park and Somersall Park offering free bike marking and registration. BikeRegister is the UK’s national cycle database and allows your bike to be linked directly to you. If your bike is lost or stolen and later recovered, police can quickly identify the rightful owner.

Every Police Force in the UK uses the BikeRegister database to search for stolen & recovered bikes

✅ Registration on the national BikeRegister database
✅ Helps deter thieves
✅ Increases the chances of stolen bikes being reunited with their owners

Cycle theft can happen anywhere, so taking a few minutes to mark and register your bike is a simple but effective way to keep it protected.

Have you seen missing teenager Alfie?

We are growing concerned for the safety of missing 16-year-old Alfie who was last seen at around 11.30am today in Stonebroom.

He is thought to have travelled by bus to Chesterfield.

He is described as white, 5ft 11ins tall and has short blonde/ginger hair.

Alfie was wearing a red Liverpool shirt, a blue hoody, black jogging bottoms and trainers, he was carrying a black rucksack.

🚨 Off-road bikes? We’re putting the brakes on them. 🏍️💨

Over the last month, officers from Chesterfield Safer Neighbourhood Team have been out and about across Chesterfield carrying out a number of operations, utilising our Forces Proactive and Bike Team aimed at tackling off-road and nuisance bikes.
And let’s just say… we know there are plenty more where those came from! 👀
We’ll continue to act on information from our communities about where these bikes are being ridden and will keep taking action where appropriate.

📢 We need your help too! If you know where nuisance or off-road bikes are being used, please keep passing that information on to us.

And a little reminder to parents and riders:
⚡ If an e-bike isn’t pedal assisted and can travel at speeds over 15mph, it may not be legal to use on the road or in public places.
So, before that “bargain” e-bike turns into an expensive conversation with us… check the rules! 😉

We are growing concerned for missing man David who was last seen in Chesterfield at around 9.30am on Wednesday 30 September.

David is 48-years-old and is described as white, 6ft 1ins tall with short black hair. He was wearing a navy blue jumper and light blue jeans.

He may be in Swansea, South Wales as he has connections there.
