🚨 Community Safety Message – Protect Your Property & Vehicles 🚨

We’ve recently seen an increase in thefts in the area
We’re asking everyone to take a few simple steps to help protect your property:

πŸ”’ Lock it, don’t risk it – Always lock your doors and windows, even if you’re only leaving for a short time.
πŸ”‘ Remove keys – Never leave keys in the ignition or inside your vehicle.
πŸ’Ό Hide valuables – Keep bags, tools, and other items out of sight or take them with you.
πŸš— Vehicle security – Double-check your vehicle is locked and consider using additional security like steering locks or alarms.
πŸ“Ή Lighting & CCTV – Good lighting and home security systems can act as a strong deterrent.
πŸ‘€ Stay vigilant – Report any suspicious activity in your area.

By taking these steps, we can work together to reduce crime and keep our community safe.

πŸ“ž If you see something suspicious, report it via 101 or 999 in an emergency.

| Two men have been jailed for drugs offences after a car was stopped in Chesterfield.

Officers from the Newbold Safer Neighbourhood Team on patrol in the village saw a Seat Leon that was linked to drug supply in St John’s Road on 12 March.

They signalled to the driver to stop but he continued for a short distance before officers forced the car to stop.

Passenger Tyler Elliot jumped out and ran off but was caught and arrested after a short foot pursuit.

He was searched and bags of crack co***ne, he**in and crack were found on him as well as two Kinder eggs containing wraps of drugs, cash and three mobile phones.

Driver Gary Day was also arrested and his mobile phone was seized.

Checks on the phones found messages showing the mass marketing of drugs.

Elliot, 22, was charged with two counts of possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply.

Day, 51, was charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs.

They admitted the offences and appeared at Derby Crown Court for sentencing on 7 April where they were:
β€’ Day, of Curbar Curve, Inkersall – jailed for three years and nine months
β€’ Elliot, of Manvers Road, Sheffield – jailed for three years and ten months.

PC Lee Taylor, of the Newbold Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: β€œWe know that drugs have a huge impact on our communities and are committed to doing all we can to tackle the supply of illegal substances.

β€œThese two men were clearly involved in bringing drugs into our community so I am pleased that they are now paying the price for their actions with a spell in prison.

β€œI hope that these sentences send a clear message that drug dealing will not be tolerated in Derbyshire. We will investigate and we will bring you to justice.

β€œI’d urge anyone with any information about drug dealing in their area to please contact us. Let’s work together to ensure people like this can’t continue their business and cause further damage to our communities.”
