How important are volunteers to the work of Stonepillow?
🌟Honestly, we'd be lost without you.🌟

Over the course of a year an astounding 16,382 volunteer hours have gone into direct support for people experiencing homelessness as well as our two retail shops, community events and fundraising.

From cooking breakfast in the hubs for people sleeping rough to gathering essential household items for clients moving into their own accommodation, volunteers make a difference every shift they do.

Sorting donations, advocating for our work and raising awareness helps us raise funds to provide vital, sustainable services.

We are in awe of your care, empathy and commitment.

📢Urgently needed: Suncream and aftersun
☀️Can you help keep our clients protected?

The sun has been punishing this week, with unusually high heat and UV levels for this time of year.
For people who are homeless, shelter from the sun can be very hard to find throughout the day. Bad sunburn can be unavoidable.

For those living on a tight budget in temporary or supported accommodation, suncream might feel like a too-expensive luxury.

But in this weather, it is a vital necessity.

We're asking for donations of unopened suncream with an SPF of 30 or 50+, and aftersun to help treat unavoidable sunburn.

If you can help, please drop off your donations at our Restore charity shops in Chichester and Bognor:

Open Air Cinema 🍿

Stonepillow and Chichester College present an afternoon and evening of big-screen fun, raising money to prevent homelessness in West Sussex.

Bring your picnic blankets and settle down to enjoy a film on a giant inflatable screen in the grounds of Chichester College. A bar, food vans and snacks stalls will be available on site, including popcorn, obviously!

It's Thank you Thursday, our favourite day of the week 💚

The amazing team at Bonito Lounge visited our Bognor hub this week, bringing with them a much-needed brand new water boiler!

An example of a really practical donation that will make a difference - keeping clients supplied with hot drinks throughout the day for years to come. 🫖

Five members of the team are also donning helmets, goggles and (most importantly) parachutes for a skydive in aid of Stonepillow this June!

🌟This Mental Health Awareness week is all about taking action to support good mental health.

As well as connecting people with mental health services, our community outreach team and support workers are always looking for opportunities to support the mental wellbeing of our clients.

Many of the people we support have experienced trauma - either as a contributing factor towards homelessness, or as a result of not having a safe or stable home and facing an uncertain future.

The support ranges from spending time on a working farm as part of a su***de prevention programme to running art sessions to encourage connection and creativity.

We see the difference this makes to people's mental health - and how it helps to make a positive future more attainable.

This is only possible thanks to your support, and that of local partner organisations.

As you can probably imagine, it is very difficult to maintain good mental health when you're facing homelessness. And having poor mental health can make it harder to find and retain safe and stable accommodation.

Stonepillow is part of Pathfinder West Sussex - a service that gives mental health support across the county. Our Pathfinder practitioner plays a very important role connecting people who are homeless or in Stonepillow accommodation to much-needed mental health support.

📢Needed urgently: Sets of drawers

Finding accommodation isn't the end of the story for someone in crisis.

🛋️We help provide a set of essential furniture for people placed in unfurnished accommodation, so they can start to rebuild their lives in a safe, welcoming home that they can look after and be proud of.

🌟But we need your help!
There are currently several people in our area waiting for a chest of drawers - a vital piece of furniture that can make a practical, and emotional, difference.

🗄️Can you donate any sets of drawers?
We accept any style or size - we just ask that they are in good condition and all the drawers are working. It is important that the furniture we provide lasts a long time and helps to make an empty shell into a home.
