Starburst Arts

Starburst Arts We are a visual and performing arts initiative in West Sussex for people with learning difficulties. Plenty of room to be creative!

We are part of West Sussex County Council and based at the Wrenford Centre in Chichester. Our team of specialist staff works with people of all abilities What we do:

We offer a wide choice of arts opportunities, including:
*Painting, sculpture, textiles, pottery and craft.
*Drama, dance and music.
*Film making and photography.
*Outreach arts based workshops and courses.
*Partnership working with

local organizations and artists. We run a full sensory arts programme for people with more complex needs. This is something that we’re working on right now and our aim is to provide a really vibrant and interactive experience. We’re committed to building upon our specialist and inclusive work to enable each individual to reach their potential. We also provide specialist support for people who wish to access the arts independently within their local community. We help to build the skills and confidence to get creative and take part. We provide opportunities to display artwork in the local area. Watch out for Outburst, our new initiative to get artwork into public spaces! What we have:

Today was a very special day. Janet Bone our super assistant manager, who has been at the Wrenford Centre for the last 17 years, has finally handed in her keys and retired. Due to the current circumstances, it was a lower key departure than planned, but we still managed to mark this special moment with a glass of bubbly and a piece of cake. There are not enough words to describe the contribution she has made to the world of care and the Wrenford Centre here. All we can say from all of us Janet is "thank you" . Thank you for all you have done and know that you will be missed by us all. We wish you a long and happy retirement and look forward to you visiting us again soon. X

Staff at Wrenford are making up activity packs for the people we support who are stuck at home during this present Covid 19 crisis. Some of us have been re deployed to WSCC residential homes to continue supporting people there. We are making welfare calls to each person and family to check that they are ok. Please know that at the present time, our staff are here to call should you need help. Tel 01234 788544. Everyone please keep safe, protect our NHS and help save lives.
