🎨Exciting news: Our Trainee art is being featured in a new exhibition!🎨
Running for two weeks from 31 March to 12 April, the exhibition – titled “The Art of Living” at the Oxmarket Gallery, Chichester has been organised by the Apuldram Centre, a Chichester-based charity supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism, along with Stonepillow, The Aldingbourne Trust and Chichester College.
The exhibition brings together the four local organisations with local art societies in Chichester and Oxmarket Gallery themselves.
In total, 49 pieces of artwork created by individuals supported by Apuldram Centre will be on display, including a range of paintings and sculptures. Many of the artists have been developing their creative skills for years, using art as a way to express themselves and build independence.
As part of the project, individuals supported by the Centre have also taken part in woodwork sessions to create bespoke frames for their artwork, further enhancing their skills and sense of ownership over the exhibition.
The theme, “The Art of Living”, reflects the role creativity plays in helping individuals set meaningful goals, develop confidence, and engage with the world around them. Members of the public will have the opportunity to purchase artwork, with proceeds going directly to the artists as well as supporting the participating charities.
Rory Massey, CEO of the Apuldram Centre, said: “This exhibition is a powerful celebration of the creativity and individuality of the people we support. Art has long been an important part of life at the Apuldram Centre, helping individuals to build confidence, develop practical skills, and express themselves in meaningful ways.
“Being able to showcase their work in a professional gallery setting is incredibly special. It not only highlights the talent of our artists but also helps challenge perceptions and demonstrate what people with learning disabilities can achieve when given the right opportunities.
“We’re proud to be working alongside Stonepillow, The Aldingbourne Trust and Chichester College on this exhibition, and we’re grateful to Promedica24 for their support in helping bring it to life.”
Running for two weeks from 31 March to 12 April the event is sponsored by live-in homecare provider Promedica24 West Sussex.
