🌹 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨 🗳

Following the local election results on Thursday, 7 May, I am disappointed not to have been elected in Euxton, but I sincerely thank everyone who supported and voted for me.

I would also like to extend my gratitude to Tommy Gray and his family for their support in my candidacy, as well as the Euxton Labour team—Cllr Danny Gee and Cllr Joan Williamson—for their encouragement throughout. Thanks also to all those who volunteered to help with delivering leaflets and canvassing.

We kept our message local and focussed on the positive improvements made in Euxton over the years.

Here are the full results for Euxton ward:

CLOSE, Jonathan - Reform UK - 978 (E)

SHARPLES, Gillian Frances - Labour Party - 906

TURNER, Geoff - The Conservative Party candidate - 469

SUMMERS, Pauline Margaret - Green Party - 296

Turnout: 43.11%

Congratulations to Jonathan Close.

I also offer my congratulations to all those Labour councillors who were re-elected and commiserations to those sitting councillors and candidates who were unsuccessful this time. You should all be very proud of your achievements.

Best wishes,

✍️ 𝗔 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝘆 🌹

As your local councillor it has been a privilege to represent Euxton on Chorley Council. I was looking forward to continuing with this work and seeking re-election in May’s local elections.

Unfortunately, due to recently diagnosed ill health, I have taken the very difficult decision not to stand at these elections.

I wanted to let residents know (particularly as we are nearing election day) and to encourage you to vote for Labour’s candidate in Euxton, Gillian Sharples.

Gillian has previously represented Euxton as a Borough Councillor and served on Euxton Parish Council. She knows the area very well and has always worked hard on behalf of the local community.

I know that Gillian will act as a powerful advocate for residents in Euxton and work constructively with your existing councillors, Danny Gee & Joan Williamson.

Gillian will also support a Labour Council which provides quality services at value for money. I am proud of our record, in particular we have:

🔴 frozen Chorley Council’s element of your council tax bill (Chorley has the second lowest council tax rates in Lancashire).

🔴 invested in providing outstanding local facilities such as Chorley Youth Zone, two supported living accommodation units, and two new GP practices.

🔴 created job opportunities through the Digital Office Park and business grants scheme.

🔴 provided events such as Chorley Flower Show, Chorley Live and What’s Your Story Chorley, helping to attract thousands of visitors to our area.

🔴 planted over 150,000 trees across the borough and investing £5.1m in decarbonising council buildings in order to support our environment.

I don’t want to see all this good work be undermined and therefore ask you to prioritise local issues and vote for Gillian Sharples.

I want to say again what a privilege and honour it has been to represent my home village of Euxton for so many years and I thank everyone for their support during this time.

Yours sincerely
