🚨 Mobilisation 🚨

🚒 An early start for our on-call crew! 🚒

At 01:05hrs this morning, our on-call crew on L54P2 were mobilised to provide standby cover at Skelmersdale Fire Station while crews dealt with an ongoing incident elsewhere in the county.

Thankfully, we weren’t required at any incidents during our time there, which meant the crew managed to catch the Spain 🇪🇸 v Uruguay 🇺🇾 game before heading home!

L54P2 returned to Chorley Fire Station shortly before 05:00hrs, ready for a well-earned rest before the day ahead.

A reminder that our on-call firefighters are available 24/7, leaving their homes and workplaces at a moment’s notice to keep our communities safe. 👏🚒

🚨 Mobilisation 🚨

Today, our on-call crew on L54P2 headed to Rivington to carry out some community engagement and speak with members of the public.

However, while there, the crew were mobilised to provide standby cover at Chorley Fire Station due to an ongoing incident elsewhere in the county.

During their time on standby, the crew attended three separate incidents: two domestic property fires and the rescue of a person who had fallen down an embankment.

Following a busy day supporting communities both locally and across Lancashire, the crew returned to station at approximately 1900hrs and were subsequently stood down from standby duties.

A great example of the flexibility and dedication of our on-call firefighters, who are always ready to respond whenever and wherever they are needed.

Lancashire is currently experiencing a heatwave and while many people will be looking forward to making the most of it, higher temperatures also bring an increased risk of water-related incidents.

Our crews will be working around the clock to keep Lancashire safe, but we need your help too.

If you're looking to cool off, choose a supervised swimming pool rather than lakes, reservoirs or other open water.

While open water may look inviting, hidden hazards beneath the surface and the effects of cold water shock can quickly turn a day out into an emergency – even for strong swimmers.

Drowning remains one of the leading causes of accidental death in the UK, and around half of those who lose their lives in water never intended to enter it.

☀️ Water Safety & Wildfire Awareness 🔥

Today, our on-call crew from Chorley Fire Station on L54P2 will be out and about in the local community, providing water safety and wildfire awareness advice.

With temperatures expected to reach the hottest of the year so far, it’s important that everyone stays safe while enjoying the sunshine. Whether you’re spending time near open water or visiting the countryside, taking a few simple precautions can help prevent accidents and fires.

If you see the crew during the day, please come over and say hello. We’d be happy to have a chat and share some important safety advice to help keep you, your family, and our communities safe.

Last night at 23:07hrs, both L54P1 and L54P2 were mobilised to a commercial building fire in Eccleston.

Multiple resources from across Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (Official) also attended, including the Aerial Ladder Platform from Preston and the LFRS Drone Team.

On arrival, crews were faced with a well-developed fire involving a warehouse containing wood materials. Multiple Breathing Apparatus (BA) teams were committed into the building, using hose reel jets and 45mm firefighting hose to bring the incident under control.

L54P1 and L54P2 remained at the incident until around 02:15hrs before returning to station at approximately 03:00hrs.

A great effort by all crews involved, working together through the night to bring this challenging incident to a safe conclusion

🚒 Training in Chorley Town Centre 🚒

Yesterday, the on-call crew headed into Chorley town centre to carry out some off-site training.

The crew practised pitching the 13.5m ladder, hauling equipment onto a roof and using the roof ladder to access other areas of the building. Realistic drills like these help firefighters develop and maintain the skills needed to deal with incidents safely and effectively.

We also carried out an emergency and initial decontamination exercise, ensuring we’re prepared to respond should a hazardous materials incident ever occur.

Training never stops, and exercises like these help keep our crews ready for whatever challenge comes next.

🚨 Mobilisation🚨

L54P2 attended two incidents in the Chorley area last night.

At 18:22hrs, L54P1, L54P2, L53P1 (Bamber Bridge) and L55P1 (Leyland) were mobilised to a house fire on Gloucester Road, Chorley.

On arrival, crews found an electric mobility scooter on fire. The resident had removed the scooter from the property prior to fire service arrival, preventing further fire spread within the home.

Two casualties were treated by firefighters for smoke inhalation and subsequently handed into the care of North West Ambulance Service.

These type of incidents highlight the importance of prompt action during emergencies and the need for working smoke alarms in the home.

At 20:38hrs, L54P2 was mobilised to a fire in the open. Crews discovered a portaloo well alight on a building site. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
