Churchill & Langford Parish Council The Parish of Churchill consists of the villages of Churchill and Langford. Churchill Parish Council serving the community in Churchill and Langford.

There are 13 Parish Councillors, either elected on a four-yearly basis or co-opted when a vacancy occurs.

🚧 Temporary Road Closure: Ellick Road, Blagdon – June 2026

North Somerset Council has given notice that Ellick Road, Blagdon will be temporarily closed to vehicles and cyclists from 4th June 2026 to allow for carriageway patching works.

🕒 Expected duration: 1 working day
Time: 9:30am to 3:30pm
⚠️ The legal notice allows for up to 5 days, but the works are expected to be completed within one day.

📍 Location of works:
From the junction with Rhodyate/Two Trees to the junction with the B3134 Burrington Combe

🚨 Access will be maintained for:

Emergency services
Residents and properties within the closure, where safe to do so
Works vehicles

🚗 Alternative route:
Via Burrington Combe, The Combe, Ham Link, Frys Lane, Rickford Rise, Bath Road, The Batch, The Coombe, High Street, Street End and Rhodyate
(and vice versa)

Traffic management and signage will be in place during the works.

From the mobile library team - Unfortunately, there will be no Mobile Library Service today, Friday 29th May, due to driver sickness. The affected communities are: Langford, Churchill, Rickford and Blagdon.

Our next scheduled visit to these locations will be Friday 12th June.

We will hold any available reservations until our next visit to you. If you would like your reservations to be sent onto another North Somerset Library branch or a different Mobile Library stop for collection, please do let us know and we will be happy to send them on to another preferred location.

Churchill Parish Council has been notified by North Somerset Council of a formal Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) consultation relating to the proposed redesign of the Churchill junction as part of the Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP).

The proposal includes:

• A new bus gate between Dinghurst Road and the A38 Bristol Road
• A left-turn-only restriction when exiting Jews Lane onto Bath Road
• Removal of the current one-way restriction on part of Bath Road
• Changes to existing 7.5 tonne weight restrictions to accommodate the new layout

North Somerset Council states that the proposed changes are intended to improve traffic flow, support bus reliability, and provide safer crossings for pedestrians and cyclists.

The consultation documents, plans and Statement of Reasons can be viewed below.

Residents wishing to comment on the proposals, either in support or objection, should submit their views directly to North Somerset Council by:

Temporary Road Closure: Front Street, Churchill – June 2026

North Somerset Council has given notice that Front Street, Churchill will be temporarily closed to vehicles from 8th June 2026 to allow Bristol Water to carry out essential repair and replacement works.

📅 Expected duration: Approximately 5 days

📍 Location of works:
Outside Bell House, at the junction of Front Street

🔧 Works include:

Replacing a chamber, frame and cover
Replacing a district meter
Installing ducting
Replacing an old concrete telemetry unit

🚨 Access will be maintained for:

Emergency services
Residents and properties within the closure, where safe to do so

🚗 Alternative route:
Via Hilliers Lane and Dinghurst Road

Traffic management and signage will be in place during the works.
