The Planning Inspectorate has overturned the Council’s decision to refuse a development of 54 homes on land north of The Wern, on the edge of Lechlade.

Development of this site has been consistently objected to and refused over the past decade. But while the Inspector acknowledged there would be some harm, the appeal has now been allowed.

While the Council will continue to consider planning applications on their merits, this shows that new housing targets are making it harder to resist speculative development – with reduced chances of successfully defending decisions at appeal.

The Council is progressing with updating its Local Plan in response to those changed housing targets. This is the most effective way to regain control over development in the district.

🚨 Scam warning: misleading “council services” website!

We’ve been made aware of a website – www.my-council.uk – promoting itself as a “one-stop shop” for local council services (e.g. reporting missed bin collections or updating your council tax details).

⚠️ Here’s what you need to know:
- The site is NOT an official Local Authority service.
- It appears above council websites in Google results due to paid advertising.
- They are charging £16.50 to submit requests (like change of address).
- The site has been reported to Google and the National Cyber Security Centre.

These council services are free and should be done directly through your local council’s official website (cotswold.gov.uk).

Always double-check you’re using your council’s official website before sharing personal details or making payments.

⛱️ Red and Yellow Flag - Lifeguarded Area - It is safe to swim between two of these flags!
🏁 Black and White Flag - Water Sports Only e.g., surfing, paddle boarding and kayaking!
🔶 Orange - Indicates offshore or strong winds!
