🏘️ A planned approach to growth - development will happen whether we have an up-to-date Local Plan or not.

Having a plan means we can better shape where development takes place and make sure it is supported by the infrastructure communities need – from schools and healthcare to community spaces, walking and cycling routes and public transport.

Our district is constrained by the Cotswold National Landscape, but our plan sets out how growth can be planned and supported across the district.

🏡 Where new homes are built is important... growth needs to happen in the right places.

Our proposed Local Plan focuses growth around settlements that are – or can be made - sustainable, where people have better access to jobs, services and transport.

Our district is constrained by the Cotswold National Landscape, but our plan directs growth to locations where it can deliver the greatest benefits for communities.

🦆 Have you spotted these ducks around Cirencester town centre?

They’re helping us spread an important message: please bin your chewing gum! 🗑️

You may also have spotted our chewing gum cleaning team, removing years of gum staining from pavements and helping to make our streets cleaner and more welcoming.

The work is being funded through the , funded by the chewing gum industry and administered by Keep Britain Tidy, which provides grants to councils to remove gum litter and help prevent it in the future.

And Cirencester isn't the only town getting a clean-up – Moreton-in-Marsh and Bourton-on-the-Water will also benefit from cleaning later this year. ✨

So, next time you’re enjoying a piece of gum, remember: chew it, bin it! 🦆

You may be aware of a national issue affecting the collection and processing of fridges and freezers. As a result, household recycling centres across the district have temporarily stopped accepting these items.

Although industry capacity remains limited, we're pleased to confirm that our bulky waste collection service is still collecting fridges and freezers.

Items will be stored by our contractor and recycled as soon as reprocessors are able to accept them.

Thank you to everyone who came along to our first Local Plan exhibition in Fairford yesterday. It was a great to see so many people there engaging with our planning officers.

⚠️ Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected this week with a risk of flash flooding on our roads – please drive with extra care.

After a hot summer the ground is hard and dry which means heavy rainfall water won’t soak into the ground quickly and can lead to surface water and localised flooding.

We’re out across Gloucestershire clearing roadside gullies all year to reduce the risk of flooding. Each year, we clear more than 130,000 gullies across the county. Even a clear drain can become overwhelmed during heavy downpours, but in most cases any surface water should drain away within a few hours.

If standing water is still present 24 hours after rainfall has ceased, it usually means there’s a longer-term problem so please report these issues using FixMyStreet.
