Horrible large tipper truck size fly tip near Chapmans Cross, Sapperton. Construction waste offender broke padlock on gate dumped on a public footpath. CDCs fantastic ERS Officer is sorting, it will be cleared up next week. 😡

A417 Missing Link - Overnight road closures 18th & 24th Aug

The A417 will be closed in both directions between the A46 Brockworth junction and Air Balloon roundabout

9pm on Tuesday 18 August to 6am Friday 21 August

The closure is required to carry out works on the Grove Farm underpass.

The new A436 and A417 will be closed in both directions between the Air Balloon and Ullenwood roundabout and A429 Burford Road overnight:

9pm on Monday 24 August to 6am Friday 28 August

These closures are necessary to allow the installation of signage, fencing and communications infrastructure.

A417 Missing Link Weekend road closures

The A417 will be closed in both directions between the A46 Brockworth junction and Air Balloon roundabout:

11pm on Friday 14 August to 6am Monday 17 August
11pm on Friday 21 August to 6am Monday 24 August

These closures are necessary to allow us to divert a water main, clear vegetation, and complete surfacing works.

Please follow our A46 Brockworth junction to Air Balloon roundabout diversion route, which is detailed below.

The Air Balloon roundabout will be open to traffic travelling between Cirencester, Leckhampton Hill, Oxford and the New A436 and A417.

A417 Cotswold Way temporary route - Public footpath closure and diversion.

There will be a temporary route for the Cotswold Way in 2026 to allow National Highways to undertake work on the A417.

The temporary route will be sign posted and take you via Ullenwood, Rushwood Kennels and Birdlip Radio Station.
The temporary route adds 4km / 2.5 miles and 50-60 minutes to your journey on foot

IT'S TODAY! TEMPORARY SWITCH ONTO THE NEW ROAD
A417 MISSING LINK

Temporary route to be in place for at least five weeks (around 10 August). The road will look and feel different:

It will have narrower lanes and a 40mph speed limit
The A417 will be reduced to one lane in both directions between A46 Brockworth Junction and Air Balloon roundabout
is expected to cause significant delays in the area.

Please plan your journeys in advance and allow extra time.

If you use the A417 as part of a longer journey, consider alternative routes where possible - especially in peak times.

🚧 Date change A417 Missing Link: temporary traffic route now starting 6 July 🚧

The new temporary route will now be introduced on Monday 6 July (previously 29 June).

This change is due to the recent extreme temperatures and Met Office red weather warning, which have impacted progress while we prioritise the safety and wellbeing of our workforce. Hot weather has also slowed the curing of asphalt on the new A436.

We aim to safely resume work and open the new road next weekend.

🚧 Closures to prepare the route:

Friday 26 June (overnight)
A417 closed between Air Balloon Roundabout & A429 Burford Road, 9pm–6am
(No closures now needed 27–28 June)

Thursday 2 July (overnight)
A417 closed both directions between A46 Brockworth & Air Balloon, 9pm–6am

Friday 3 – Monday 6 July (weekend closure)
A417 closed both directions between A429 Burford Road & Air Balloon, 9pm Fri – 6am Mon
