One thing we have enjoyed whilst campaigning in Clacton is getting to know its people. You can't represent people properly if you never sit down and listen to them.

That's why William would hold regular surgeries in Clacton, open to anyone, so residents can bring their concerns straight to him and he can carry them straight into Parliament.

During the campaign, William spoke to residents on the street and answered questions at a good old-fashioned public meeting.

One of the biggest things William Clouston would do for Clacton is correct the mean-spirited, snooty picture that's been painted of the place by Westminster and journos for the past 10 years.

Farage has brought notoriety and 'put Clacton on the map' - but the media response has been pinched and misrepresented the constituency in a way that harms its economic present and future.

William would spend time in the constituency - championing its people, places and heritage, and showing the rest of the UK that this is a jewel in the East of England.

We've been there for three weekends now and we've discovered a place that's filled with warm-hearted community, natural beauty and fun. It doesn't take much to realise what Clacton is. The constituency just needs an MP who would fight for it.

We're in beautiful Clacton again, meeting residents who've already voted SDP - as well as Tory and Labour voters who are excited to find a better party.

Don't tell Nige, but we're even speaking with Reform voters who have had enough of the shenanigans now.

Rhys represents Ackworth, North Elmsall and Upton on Wakefield Council, and he's chosen to join us as an SDP councillor.

We mark with great sadness the death of SDP member and long standing supporter Rod Liddle, announced just a short while ago.

Rod was a party stalwart, a strong voice, and a good friend.

He will be sorely missed.
