Float to Live 🛟
If you find yourself struggling in water, remember: don’t panic — float to live.

“Float to Live” is a simple but life-saving technique that helps you regain control if you unexpectedly fall into water. Lean back, spread your arms and legs, and gently move them to help you stay afloat. This allows you to catch your breath, stay calm, and call for help if needed.

Cold water shock and panic can happen quickly, even to strong swimmers, so knowing how to float could save your life or someone else’s.
Take a moment to learn and share this vital skill — it could make all the difference.

As temperatures rise, make sure your pets have somewhere cool and shaded to rest.🐶☀️

Provide plenty of fresh water, keep homes well ventilated, and ensure pets have access to a cool, comfortable place away from direct sunlight.

Never leave pets in parked vehicles, even for a short time and avoid walking your dog during the hottest parts of the day when the ground is too hot.💚

For more advice on keeping pets safe during warmer weather, visit the Met Office or RSPCA websites.

This World Cup, millions of eyes will be on the football. ⚽

But not everyone’s eyes will be on the game.

Every year, lives across Essex are changed forever by drink driving.

That’s why we are launching , featuring Soccer Saturday’s Simon Thomas, alongside Essex creators Simeone De Cesare, Alexander Cassar, Ronnie Gall and Reid Card.
The message is simple: real mates look out for each other.

If a friend has been drinking, help them get home safely- take their keys, call a taxi, offer a sofa. If you are concerned someone may be drink driving and can’t intervene directly, you can report it confidentially online.

One report could save a life: https://www.essex.police.uk/ro/report/

Three Barn Owl chicks have been successfully ringed as part of ongoing conservation work 🦉🌿

With the help of a licensed expert and Tendring District Council’s Open Spaces team, the chicks were carefully weighed, measured, and fitted with leg rings - vital steps that provide important data to support wildlife conservation efforts.

Nest sites are regularly monitored to ensure the right time for ringing, helping to protect and track these beautiful birds for the future.

It’s safe to say this project is a real hoot! To read more follow the link in the comments 👇

Residents helping shape Tendring’s future📢

Thanks to everyone who shared their views on Tendring’s new Local Plan – the blueprint that could guide up to 18,000 new homes, jobs, and community facilities by 2043.

Following a six-week consultation earlier this year:
Over 620 responses were received
Around 700 residents spoke directly with planning officers

Your feedback has made a real impact. Key concerns raised included:
- Pressure on roads and infrastructure
- School and healthcare capacity
- Impact on the countryside
- Delivering jobs and affordable homes

As a result, proposed changes include:
- Removing a 300-home site in Brightlingsea
- Removing a 200-home site in Walton
- Exploring smaller, more distributed developments

Councillors have used this feedback to shape the next stage of the plan, with an updated version set for further consultation later this year.
