Today we mourn the loss of Ann Widdecombe.

Ann was not only a formidable figure in British public life, but one of Reform UK’s strongest and most respected voices - fearless, principled and never afraid to say what she believed.

She gave decades of her life to public service and remained a powerful advocate for our country right to the end.

Her contribution will not be forgotten.

Our deepest condolences go to her family, friends and all those who knew and worked alongside her.

Rest in peace, Anne. A true patriot. 🇬🇧

Today, the flag at Dukinfield Town Hall is flying at half-mast as a mark of respect on the day of Ann Widdecombe's funeral.

A former Member of Parliament, Minister and public servant, Ann dedicated a long career to public life and public service. On behalf of Tameside Council, we extend our condolences to her family, friends and all those who knew and worked with her.

Today we held a joint ward surgery for all the Denton wards at Victoria Park Community Centre. This was ran by Audra Murray Reform Uk, Councillor Dan Bennett and Cllr Aron Webb - Denton North East.

Firstly, we want to thank those who run the centre for letting us use the space. We also want to thank PCSO Hill for staying throughout the full session as the community really engaged and that is very important.

We had a strong turnout and the two hours flew by. We covered a range of issues including:

* Derelict properties in the area
* Non functioning street lights
* Vandalism on British heritage sites
* Anti social behaviour
* CCTV requests
* Roadworks
* Unmanaged grids
* Overgrown weeds
* Housing issues
* Disabled access limitations in the area
* Green space preservation

One of the main points from tonight was the recent trouble St Lawrence Church Denton has faced. Drug paraphernalia has been found on the grounds, there is graffiti on the church walls and a smashed window led to a break in.

This is unacceptable and as councillors we are now working hard to help stop it by every means available. This is a grade 2 listed building and one of the oldest in the area. We should be proud of it and look after it properly.

It was a really good session and great to put faces to the emails we have been receiving as well as having proper face to face conversations with local residents.

Thank you to all that came. No matter who you voted for in the elections, we want to help!

Thank you Sian Astley for highlighting Godley Green.

In spite of over 8,000 objections, Tameside Labour are intent on concreting over our beautiful green belt land.

Instead of handling the people problem, it’s always framed it as a housing problem.

Instead of getting a grip of the numbers of people entering our country, places like Hyde are forced to take the brunt of the immigration crisis.
