📚 EXCITING NEWS! We’re proud to now be called home by ‘The Little Book Stop’!

✏️ Clapham has been selected from over 1000 applicants to become one of just 90 local communities nationwide to receive a Penguin ‘Little Book Stop’, to celebrate the publisher’s 90th anniversary.

☕️ The Book Stop has been set up at the head of the village between The Old Sawmill Café and the entrance to Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail.

📖 The project aims to encourage reading and share a love of books, with users are encouraged to replace the book they take with a substitute, although this is not a requirement. Penguin has sent a starter pack with 25 new books from authors including Margaret Atwood, Zadie Smith and Jacqueline Wilson, including a varied selection for both children & adults alike.

🍂 Grab a book and pick your spot to unwind! We recommend a cosy corner in The Old Sawmill Cafe or the lakeside benches along the trail (both open daily).

Two weeks have flown by since we opened the Mimpish Squimbie Family Trail….if you have visited we would love to hear your feedback!

We’d love to shine a light on some of the brilliant professional contributors behind the trail - and where you can find out more about them! We’re proud to have such thoughtful craftsmanship and community spirit woven into the trail.

✏️ Stephen Waterhouse (illustrator) and Maria Farrer (author) brought our Squimbie characters to life. www.stephenwaterhouse.com www.mariafarrer.com
📖 The trail booklet was beautifully designed by Rebecca Williamson. www.rebeccawilliamsonillustration.com
🔧 Peter Barrett and Suzanna Capella were our incredible home architects, with materials generously donated by JT Atkinson and Settle Coal Co. www.jtatkinson.co.uk www.settlecoal.co.uk
🌳 Our Tree Squimbies are happily settled in their cosy willow hideouts, beautifully crafted by Rachel Benson at Broadrake. www.broadrake.co.uk
🪚 Finally an extremely local connection! David Clark, who used to run the woodland management on the trail using the equipment in our very own The Old Sawmill Café, crafting the Squimbie of the Dam’s underground home.
