Its great to see local councillors supporting this significant investment into transport for Heckmondwike. But we can't help notice the hypocrisy of their posts during the election, compared to now...

Heckmondwike's NEW Bus Station is now open and serving hundreds of buses a week that connects Heckmondwike to Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Huddersfield and more!

The first 'Weaver Network' bus station, funded by Tracy Brabin Mayor of West Yorkshire, is a brilliant addition to the transport infrastructure in Heckmondwike, Kirklees and West Yorkshire.

The bus station comes as Mayor Brabin works to bring buses back into public control in West Yorkshire, and Prime Minister Andy Burnham cuts bus fares to £2 a singe from January.

With Labour in charge, communities, transport and your priorities get invested in!

We are so excited to see this open and are very grateful for the work successive Heckmondwike labour councillors did to get this delivered. Including Viv Kendrick, Aafaq Butt and Steve Hall.

Just came across this story in the paper this morning and curious what everyone thinks.

Is a new policy on which flags fly from council buildings really a priority for you?

Is this something that affects your daily life, or would you rather see the council focusing on potholes, buses, town centres and local services?

What do you think - important issue, or are there bigger things Kirklees should be dealing with?

10 years on, we remember Jo.

Her words that we “have far more in common with each other than things that divide us” summarise the hope and kindness Jo held close.

We think of everyone in our community today but especially Jo’s family.
