North Somerset Council have informed us that they will shortly be completing carriageway surfacing works on the B3130 Tickenham Road, Clevedon, from outside the property named Copperfields to the roundabout with Northern Way, Clevedon.

Works are due to commence on Monday 8th June 2026 for an anticipated duration of ten nights (week nights only). To ensure the works are carried out safely, a night road closure will be in place between 20:00 and 05:00.

There will be no through access during the closure hours. They will have traffic marshals on site to aid with access and egress and have advance warning signs to notify residents and commuters.

A signed diversion route will be in place during the closure. Full diversion details can be found on the North Somerset Council roadworks map: https://tinyurl.com/bdcsaec8 and updates will also be shared via the North Somerset Travel and Roads page: https://www.facebook.com/NStravelandroads/

📢 The future of our region should be shaped with the people who live and work here 📢

That’s why North Somerset Council Leader Cllr Mike Bell has written to Helen Godwin, Mayor of the West of England, and leaders asking to continue to work closely together to make sure the voices of North Somerset’s communities are heard clearly and meaningfully.

This follows May’s Council meeting where North Somerset councillors voted to support joining the West of England Combined Authority area (WECA).

WECA currently brings together Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol City and South Gloucestershire councils, working with a directly elected mayor on issues that cross council boundaries, including transport, housing, skills, economic development and tackling climate change. The government has identified the West of England as the most appropriate strategic partnership for North Somerset 🏠 🚲

As discussions move forward, Cllr Bell’s letter sets out the council’s request that residents, town and parish councils, local businesses, community groups and partners must have a strong voice in shaping the future of the expanding region.

The letter sets out practical ways to support this, including creating public participation guidance, a regional engagement and co-creation framework, engagement plans for major strategies and creating a WECA citizens’ panel.
