Wondering what we’ve been up to lately? 🌊

This week, the Clevedon Coastguard Rescue Team got stuck into some water rescue training!

Our team carried out our regular weekly session, focusing on key skills and techniques needed for effective water rescues.

It’s all about refreshing our knowledge and putting it into practice—so we’re always ready when it matters most.

Heading out for a coastal walk this bank holiday? 🚶

Make sure to check the tide times before you go.

Tides can catch you out by surprise. Water can rise quickly and cut you off, leaving you trapped in bays, coves, or on sandbanks.

Familiarise yourself with all the exit points and keep an eye out on which direction the tide is heading.

If you find yourself trapped by the tide, or in any coastal emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

🚨 Adverse Weather Alert 🚨

High tides, strong winds, and large waves are expected to cause flooding this evening.

🌊 Flooding is anticipated between 8:30pm and 9:00pm on 04/04/2026.

⚠️ Areas most at risk include:

• The coastline between Gullhouse Point and Marine Parade
• Marine Lake
• Elton Road
• The Beach

Please take care, avoid affected areas, and do not take unnecessary risks.

Our teams are on standby and will provide updates where possible and required.

As always - if you are concerned or believe someone at the coast is in danger - CALL 999 & ASK FOR THE COASTGUARD

🚨 Exciting Update from Clevedon Coastguard Rescue Team 🚨

We’re pleased to share that we’ve just finalised the Standard Operating Procedure for our brand new Mounted Division 🐎
The HM Coastguard SAR Mounted Division is now being trialled across the Clevedon area, providing additional support to our flank teams in Portishead and Weston-super-Mare.

This new capability helps us cover challenging terrain more effectively and strengthens our response along the coastline.
If you see our mounted team out and about, be sure to give them a wave! 👋

Did you know, we are now on TikTok social media platform!

We’re excited to bring you closer to what we do — sharing updates, training, and real-life rescues to keep you informed and involved.

Last night’s training focused on a mud rescue dry run.

The team practiced placing holdfasts, preparing rescue technicians, deploying stretchers, delivering casualty care, and safely recovering the casualty using a winch system.
Dry runs like this are essential — helping us refine our techniques without covering all the kit in mud, so we stay Rescue Ready and prepared to respond the moment that pager goes off.
