Ribble Valley Arts What's On: Whalley Monthly Artisan Market

Whalley Artisan Market is on the last Sunday of each month. Whalley Festive Markets is on Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th November.

The Whalley Monthly Artisan Market is a vibrant monthly celebration of local creativity, craftsmanship and community spirit, held in the heart of the picturesque Ribble Valley village of Whalley.

Taking place on the last Sunday of each month, the market showcases an inspiring selection of high-quality handmade products from talented local artisans, designers and makers. Visitors can browse everything from handcrafted ceramics and bespoke textiles to fine art, illustration, unique gifts and artisan food products.

Alongside the artisan stalls, the market features a variety of street food vendors offering flavours from around the world, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere. Live music from local musicians and DJs spinning vinyl classics adds to the unique character of the event.

The market is also dog-friendly, making it an ideal destination for families, friends and visitors with four-legged companions. More than just a shopping experience, it provides an opportunity to meet local creatives, learn about their craft, and support independent businesses across the region.

Set against the backdrop of Whalley's historic streets, independent shops and popular eateries, the market offers a memorable day out for residents and visitors alike. Ribble Valley Arts What's On: So It Goes presents BIKINI BODY & BEN KATZMAN

For the second show in our series of events in The Mezz at Gisburn Forest Hub, we welcome BIKINI BODY and, all the way from LA, BEN KATZMAN.

In partnership with SeekOut Festival, The Hungry Pine and Forestry England. With huge thanks to PRS Foundation and the Early Career Promoter Fund for helping make it happen.

BIKINI BODY

Bikini Body are your favourite DJ’s favourite punk band. They’ve released two records with Optimo Music, whose support helped shape their current trajectory and a sound that’s dancier than punk and punkier than dance.

Drawing on ESG, Liquid Liquid, Warmduscher and Squid, their sound pairs percussive grooves with a confrontational vocal style rooted in The Slits, Bush Tetras and X-Ray Spex.

Recent activity includes a 13-date UK co-headline tour with a sold-out London show, a packed-out headline set at The Windmill, Brixton, and festival appearances at Manchester Psych Fest, Hidden Door and Watching Trees. Airplay has followed across BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio 1, KEXP and NTS.

The band have just completed 10 new tracks at PRAH Studios in Margate. The new material leans even deeper into the sound they’ve been honing live; rhythmic, confrontational and built for both the dance floor and the DIY basement.

BEN KATZMAN

Ben Katzman is a vibrant, multifaceted musician who treats music not just as entertainment, but as transformation. A fan-favorite finalist on Survivor, Ben has carved out a singular lane as a solo metal artist whose mission goes far beyond the stage: to use sound, art, and his signature SHREDDING as tools to process emotion, spark empowerment, and help build the reality we actually want to live in.

His music is a high-voltage fusion of metal, punk, rock, and pop packed with face-melting riffs, massive hooks, and lyrics that turn vulnerability into power. For Ben, shredding isn’t just a guitar technique; it’s a release valve, a celebration, and a call to action. Each solo becomes a way to metabolize chaos, channel joy, confront fear, and invite audiences to do the same. Ribble Valley Arts What's On: Bridgerton Meets Pop: An Evening of Strings, Songs & Showstoppers!
Thursday 22nd October
7pm until late

Join Clitheroe Pop Choir and What The Pluck String Quartet for a fantastic evening of strings, songs and showstoppers, featuring Bridgerton-inspired classics alongside much-loved pop anthems.

The evening is being held in aid of Derian House Children’s Hospice, with all proceeds supporting their work with children and families.

Ribble Valley Arts Opportunity: Ribble Valley Jazz Big Band - Call Out For New Members
The Ribble Valley Jazz Big Band is currently expanding its line-up. As a vibrant community musical ensemble based in Clitheroe, the band has several exciting vacancies across its sections. Whether applicants are experienced musicians seeking a core role or developing players looking to grow their skills, the band would be delighted to hear from them.

Core Vacancy: Advanced Pianist
The band is seeking a strong, advanced pianist to join its rhythm section. This is not a beginner role; the successful applicant will be an experienced musician capable of acting as a foundational pillar of the band, handling complex jazz charts and helping to drive its live sound forward.

Section Vacancies: Developing Musicians Welcome
The band is also looking to fill the following positions:
Tenor Saxophone
Trumpet
Trombone

These positions are ideally suited to developing musicians who are still learning and building their confidence. Applicants do not need to be performance-ready straight away. As a community band, the Ribble Valley Jazz Big Band offers a fantastic opportunity to attend Monday evening rehearsals, play alongside experienced section members, and develop skills in a supportive and welcoming environment.
