Full of creators, makers and friendly faces in the heart of the Ribble Valley, and we have a treat in store, Paddy Higginson Music will be playing. Paddy is an amazing saxophonist an exceptional multi-instrumentalist and he'll add a lovely bit of live music to the day. Great atmosphere as always, and pooches are more than welcome.

Ribchester Art Club Showcases Vibrant Local Talent on August Bank Holiday Weekend

The Ribchester Art Club is preparing to open its doors for its annual summer exhibition. The exhibition is a well known feature in the Ribble Valley’s cultural calendar, offering a relaxed outing for anyone interested in the local art scene. This year, the club’s 35 active members are set to display a collection of around 200 original artworks. Visitors can expect a very diverse collection of high quality work, with pieces ranging from large-scale abstracts to intricate, small 3D sculptures, from traditional representational works in oils and watercolours to contemporary mixed media.

Locals will particularly enjoy the many pieces capturing the beauty of the surrounding region.The exhibition offers a rare opportunity to obtain original, one-of-a-kind art directly from emerging local artists, but also offers more affordable small works such as cards, prints, and unframed pieces. Because you are buying directly from the makers, the prices are realistic.

The exhibition is a friendly, casual event where visitors can browse at their own pace. There is free parking available on-site, making it easy to drop by. Refreshments will be served throughout both days, and there is a raffle to help raise funds for the club’s educational programme and equipment. There is no entry charge.

FREE – Turn old textiles into something beautiful! Join local artist Emma Clarke at Platform Gallery for a FREE drop-in coiled basket workshop on Saturday 30 August. Bring along a piece of old clothing or fabric and discover a creative new skill. Suitable for adults and children ages 8+ (with an accompanying adult).
The gallery, which is next to the town’s railway station, is open Sundays until Sunday 30 August, 11am-4pm. Note, workshops end at 3pm and where materials are limited may wrap up sooner. Children must be always accompanied by a responsible adult.

"On the 19th September one of the most popular musical concerts in the Ribble Valley over the past 15 years takes place in Clitheroe.

We can now announce this year’s theme decided several months ago of the euphoric Last Night of the Ribble Valley Proms.

CLASSIC FM Hall of Fame.

This event will include music by composers Richard Straus, Rossini, Etienne Crausaz, Rimsky-Korsakov and more. There will also be a Viennese section and the patriotic climax of flag waving prom favourites. The multi-award winning Milnrow Band will have a special guest conductor.

Jamie Prophet has been a principal instrumentalist with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra over many years. We are honoured that he takes the baton for this concert in the Ribble Valley Music Festival programme.

The concert starts at 7.30 at the Old School Rooms on Lowergate.

Entrance is only £10 (cash please) and includes loan of a flag. There is a cash raffle, and a pay bar."

Sabden Summer Folklore Festival returns this August with a magical weekend of family fun, community spirit, and folklore-inspired entertainment. The festival is free to attend and is brought to life by a small organising team who plan and coordinate the event, alongside villagers who generously share their talents and skills to perform, create, and help make the weekend happen.
Running throughout, the Scarecrow Trail will once again transform the village with imaginative displays across Sabden. Prizes will be awarded for Best Scarecrow and Best Dressed Window, judged by our panel. This year’s theme is Disney.
The festival begins on Thursday 20th August with a Folklore Quiz Night at The Pendle Witch, followed on Friday by a whimsical Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at The White Hart.
On Saturday, a colourful fancy dress parade, led by a brass band, makes its way to St Mary’s Hall & Grounds, where visitors can enjoy live music, entertainment, workshops, stalls, food vendors, BBQ, bar, and family attractions. Returning favourites include Punch & Judy and “Sabden Beach”.
Sunday concludes the celebrations with a Sports-Themed Family Fun Day, featuring the ever-popular “It’s a Knockout” on The Holme, plus a BBQ, bar, and doubles competition at Sabden Bowling Club. There is also a guided walk you can take part in on Sunday morning around Pendle Hill.
