We wanted to make you aware of an incident we attended on the 11th of June 2026. Thanks to an Eagle Eyed member of the public 👀 , officers on Team 5 response attended Whalley Road and a 44-year-old male from Clitheroe was arrested after being stopped by officers in his vehicle and was found in possession of a knife following the use of stop-search powers.

The continued support from the community allows us to achieve these results and keep weapons off the street. ☺️

The man pictured is Michele Scappatacci. He is a pa******le who last week was jailed for his crimes.

In November 2025, we received a report that Scappattacci had sexually assaulted and incited a young girl to engage in sexual activity with him, over the course of around four years.

An investigation commenced, and we found that Scappatacci had sexually assaulted his victim a number of times, and took pictures of her whilst doing so.

When we examined Scappatacci’s phone, we found an app, disguised to look like a calculator, and protected with a pin. Upon examination, we found 888 indecent images and videos, including images and videos of Scappatacci committing his crimes.

He was arrested and following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, charged with:

- three counts of ra**ng a child
- two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
- four counts of sexual assault on a child
- two counts of causing a child to watch a sexual act
- three counts of making indecent photographs of a child
- three counts of taking an indecent photograph of a child
- possessing a prohibited image of a child
- possessing an extreme pornographic image

Scappatacci ,58, formerly of Lancaster Drive, Clitheroe, pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court. He appeared back in the dock on 4th June, where he was sentenced to 18 years in prison, with a further eight years on extended license.

Despite her young age, the victim has shown an incredible sense of strength in what must have been an incredibly distressing time. We don’t doubt that it is because she had the courage to tell someone what had happened to her, that Scappatacci has been brought to justice.

Scappatacci’s behaviour was nothing short of disgustingly paedophilic. He sexually abused a young girl for his own sordid interests.

Nothing will change what Scappatacci did to his victim, nothing will allow her to reclaim those years of her life. We can only hope that she can begin to rebuild her young life knowing that he has been brought to justice.

If you are reading this and are a victim of any sexual offence. Please know that we want to help you – we will listen to what you tell us, we will investigate appropriately, and we will do all we can to get you justice.

20 year old Lewis SMITH of Heath Common Caravan Park, Wakefield has been charged with 4 offences of burglary committed around the East of Lancashire in May of this year. He was remanded to attend magistrates court for the first hearing on the 8th June.

This follows a thorough investigation by the Ribble Valley Rural Task force with assistance from our response colleagues.

As legal proceedings are now active, we've turned off comments to minimise any risk to future proceedings.

Simpson is from Burnley but could be in the Morecambe area.

He has links to Lancaster, Accrington and Gisburn as well as Morecambe and Burnley.

We’re appealing for witnesses, CCTV and dashcam footage after a collision in Samlesbury.

We were called to Whalley Road at around 6pm on Tuesday May 26th to reports a green Mini, which had travelled up the A59 from the M6, had left the road and come to a stop in a field.

Three occupants, a man and two women suffered minor injuries.

Good Evening. This evening Officers from Ribble Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team, our Special Constabulary and our Licensing team have been out and about in the Ribble Valley.

We were engaged on an operation designed to both engage and reassure members of the public enjoying the amazing night time economy venues in the Borough, but also identify and target those who are using illegal drugs in these venues.

During our operation we stop and searched 8 individuals suspected as being in possession of drugs and seized a quantity of both Class A and Class B drugs being used by individuals in our local pubs. A 37 year old female was also arrested for being drunk and disorderly and assaulting a Police Officer whilst we were engaged on this operation.

If you need to take drugs to have a good time when on a night out, you are not welcome in our towns and you should understand that we will target you, and you always need to be looking over your shoulders, as you never know who may be watching... 👀

Earlier this week we brought you the very sad update that a little girl had died following a collision in Gisburn. Today, with her family’s blessing, we are sharing their tribute to her with you. They said:

“On Tuesday afternoon our lives were changed forever. We lost our beautiful, fun, perfect little princess.

“She will forever be missed but never forgotten by mum, Natalie, dad, Andrew, twin brother Finn and everyone who was lucky enough to meet her.

“We are beyond broken-hearted without her, she was our loving bundle of energy and joy.”

Five-year-old Alana Moscrop was a passenger in a Skoda Karoq when she was seriously injured after it collided with a Volkswagen Golf R on the A59 near to the old council yard last Thursday (21st May.)

Very sadly, despite the best efforts of the emergency services and medical staff, Alana died in hospital on Tuesday.

The driver of the Skoda – a woman in her 60s, and a five-year-old boy, who was a passenger suffered serious injuries and remain in hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a man in his 20s also suffered serious injuries, and remains in hospital. He is being treated as a witness in our investigation.

Our thoughts are very much with Alana’s family, who are being supported by specially-trained Family Liaison Officers, and all those who knew and loved her. It’s clear from their tribute just how loved and adored she was, and it is devastating news that she has died.

They have understandably been asked for privacy at this terrible time, and we ask that people please respect that.

Our enquiries into the collision are very much ongoing, and we are continuing to appeal for anyone with information or footage that could help us.

Whilst we are appealing for information, we also make a request that this is passed on through the appropriate channels, and people refrain from speculating online or otherwise. Please remember that a little girl has lost her life, and a little boy and two adults remain injured. This collision has and will continue to effect real people – and seeing unnecessary speculation online will only make matters more distressing for them.
