🍂🌾 Sharing the Joy of Harvest🌾🍂

Our school choir enjoyed a lovely visit to St McCartan’s Nursing Home and the Day Centre in Clogher, delivering harvest hampers and singing some traditional harvest songs.

Harvest is a special time at Carntall, reminding us of the importance of giving, kindness and thinking of others. It was wonderful for our children to spend time with the older members of our community and experience the joy of bringing generations together. 🙏

A huge thank you to all our parents and families for their generous donations towards the hampers. Your kindness helped make these visits possible and brought a little harvest cheer to others.🍁

🍂🍁 Autumn Adventures🍁🍂

Mrs Owens’ class had a wonderful time exploring the forest and school grounds on their autumn walk.🌳

The children had great fun collecting colourful leaves, pine cones and other autumn treasures while enjoying the sights and sounds of the season.

And of course, no autumn walk would be complete without a little dancing and splashing in the puddles.💦🍃

Lots of fresh air, fun and learning in the great outdoors.🍂😊

📰🌍 EXCITING NEWS AT CARNTALL🗞️🌏

We’re delighted to have subscribed to First News, an award-winning weekly newspaper written especially for children.

Covering everything from world events and scientific discoveries to sport, nature and technology, First News is a fantastic way to encourage our pupils to read more widely, broaden their horizons and develop a greater understanding of the world around them.

But it’s about much more than reading the news. We hope it will spark curiosity and lead to lots of interesting discussions in our classrooms, encouraging children to ask questions, share their opinions, think critically and appreciate different points of view.

At Carntall, we want our children to be more than just good learners. We want them to grow into curious, confident and informed young people who take an interest in the world and their place within it.

A fantastic addition to our school🌟

🌿 The Great River Adventure – Our Final Week🌿

For the final week of their Great River Adventure, P7 visited An Creagan to explore the fascinating bogland habitat.

The children discovered the variety of plants and creatures that call the bogland home and learned how they have adapted to survive in this unique environment.

A fantastic opportunity to take learning beyond the classroom and develop a greater understanding and appreciation of our local natural environment.

A big thank you to Alyn for guiding us through such an enjoyable and educational series of both indoor and outdoor adventures.

🌳🍂 Learning Together in the Great Outdoors🍁🦔

We were delighted to welcome parents into school for our first Parent Participation Session of the year.

Our P3/4 pupils and their parents enjoyed a wonderful Forest School workshop, with Miss Bloomfield, exploring the children’s topic of Woodland Creatures and Autumn through a range of fun, practical learning experiences.🌿🐿️

We place great value on parents as partners in their children’s learning. Opportunities like these strengthen the important links between home and school, allowing parents to share in their children’s learning experiences and see first-hand the benefits of our outdoor classroom.

It was lovely to see children and parents learning, exploring and enjoying time together. A perfect example of our school vision in action.

A big thank you to all the parents who joined us and helped make the morning so special. 🍁

💦 P7’s Great Water Adventure in Fardross🌿

Last week, P7 enjoyed their third ‘Great Water Adventure’ session with Alyn at the river in Fardross.

They had great fun exploring the carboniferous river and investigating just how healthy it is.🔍🐟

The children collected and studied a fascinating variety of aquatic wildlife and even calculated the velocity of the river.

The rain certainly didn’t dampen our spirits.🌧️ Another fantastic day of hands-on learning in the great outdoors.🌿

It’s been a busy first month at Carntall and we’ve just realised we haven’t introduced our 2026–27 Eco Committee.🌱🌍

These guys were voted in by their classmates at the beginning of September and are ready to help make Carntall even greener.💚♻️

We’re looking forward to seeing their ideas come to life this year.🌿
