Description:

The Team were tasked to assist a walker who had slipped and suffered a lower leg injury. Team members made their way to the casualty to assess. The walker was treated and packaged into the stretcher.

Due to the potential for a long stretcher carry back to the vehicles, helicopter assistance was requested. The Maritime and Coastguard Agency helicopter from Carlisle was able to attend. The casualty was loaded on board Rescue 897 before being flown back to Carlisle for further assessment at the Cumberland Infirmary.

Description:
A walker slipped and injured their ankle whilst descending Low Fell. CMRT made their way down the valley in team vehicles before ascending the fellside on foot.

On reaching the casualty, pain relief was administered and the leg splinted. The individual was then packaged into the stretcher before being sledged back down to the team vehicles.

There, the casualty was handed over to an North West Ambulance Service crew that took them onwards to West Cumberland Hospital.

A multi-agency response was initiated following a report that a man had slipped and fallen a considerable distance down Moss Force near to Newlands Hause. Visitors to the waterfall, including off duty medical professionals, provided initial support whilst emergency services made their way to the scene. Sadly, despite the best efforts of all involved, the man died as a result of his injuries.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the man’s family and friends.

Description:
A walker fell and hit their head. They sustained a cut to their head, a possibly dislocated finger, and were suffering with dizziness.

The Team made their way down the valley to Gatesgarth in team vehicles, before continuing on foot to the casualty's location on Buttermere lakeshore.

The casualty was assessed, pain relief administered, and then stretchered back to Gatesgarth. There, the casualty was handed over to the awaiting crew.

Description:
A walker had strayed from the Crummock lakeshore path onto some steep loose ground on the side of Mellbreak, and now felt unable to continue safely.

The casualty's location was determined using coordinates from the initial 999 call. Six team members made their way along the shore of Crummock Water. With encouragement, support and a confidence rope, the Team were able to walk the casualty down to the safety of the lakeshore path and back to the team vehicles.

Description:
A walker descending Black Sail Pass in the Ennerdale Valley had sustained a suspected broken ankle.

A full team call-out was initiated. The Team made their way to YHA Black Sail by vehicle before continuing on foot to the casualty. Analgesia was administered and the lower leg was splinted. The casualty was then packaged into the stretcher and carried back to Black Sail Youth Hostel as hundreds of runners participating in the also descended!
The walker and friends were then conveyed by team vehicle to Bowness Knott car park, where the casualty was handed over to an ambulance.

Description: Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team were called out on Wednesday afternoon to a fallen walker on the slopes of Great Gable.

After initial investigation, it became apparent the casualty was in Cockermouth’s area and the job was transferred.

A full Team call-out was initiated, and CMRT made its way down the Ennerdale Valley to YHA Black Sail

The Team Leader had requested Maritime and Coastguard Agency assistance, and shortly after the first vehicles got to Black Sail, Rescue 199 was on scene and lowered one of their crew to the scene.

CMRT held its position whilst the Coastguard made an assessment. It was decided to winch the casualty onboard and fly them to Carlisle, but assistance was needed to evacuate the casualty.

Rescue 199 flew to Black Sail, then lifted two Team members to the scene. the casualty was winched aboard and their companion was escorted off the fell to the Youth Hostel by CMRT.

Description: Just as the Team was enjoying some refreshment in Buttermere after call-out 55, another call came for a fallen walker in Warnscale Bottom.

Due to the proximity of the incident to Buttermere, the Team were quickly on scene. The casualty was assessed and there was a clear indication of a lower back injury.

Analgesia was administered and the casualty was packed onto a stretcher before being carried to Buttermere Lakeshore.

Once again Maritime and Coastguard Agency Rescue 897 assisted by landing on and transporting the casualty to the Cumberland Infirmary for further treatment.

Description: The Team was asked by Keswick Mountain Rescue Team to respond to a call-out from a pair of walkers, one of whom had fallen on Littledale Edge with a suspected broken arm.

CMRT made its way down the Buttermere Valley, driving to Newlands Hause before making the final approach over Robinson on foot.

Due to the length of any evacuation, a helicopter was requested and Maritime and Coastguard Agency Rescue 897 from Carlisle was despatched.

Once on scene, the Team carried out an assessment, confirming an isolated left humerus injury, analgesia was administered before the arm was made comfortable.

Rescue 897 then landed about 100m from the scene and the casualty was able to walk with assistance to the helicopter for onward transport to the Cumberland Infirmary.

Description: CMRT were called to an individual who had hurt their ankle on Crummock Lakeshore.

A full call-out was initiated and the Team made their way to the casualty via the Pump House at the north end of the lake.

Upon arrival it became clear that there was a lower leg injury, the casualty was administered pain relief and then had their leg splinted.

The Team then packaged the casualty in a stretcher and carried them to a waiting North West Ambulance Service ambulance for onward treatment and transport to hospital.
