📸👑 Year 1 Royal WOW Day! 👑📸

What a truly royaltastic day our Year 1 children have had!

We started the day by learning all about the Royal Family and what it means to be a monarch. The children enjoyed taking part in a range of royal-themed activities, including making their very own crowns and flags fit for a king or queen! 👑🇬🇧

Later in the morning, we prepared sandwiches ready for our special royal party. After lunch, excitement was in the air as the children took part in a treasure hunt to find hidden royal coins... and the best part was that they were chocolate coins that we got to eat afterwards. Yum! 🍫💰

The celebrations continued with our royal party, where we enjoyed our sandwiches and a glass of "w**e" (blackcurrant juice!) before playing lots of fun party games in the classroom. 🎉🥪🍷

To finish our wonderful day, we learned and sang the National Anthem together.

A huge well done to all of Year 1 for their enthusiasm, excellent behaviour and hard work throughout the day. We are so proud of you all and hope you enjoyed this very special celebration!

Wednesday 4th November at 9am.

Come and join us for a relaxed and informal SEND Coffee Morning at Cogenhoe Primary School.

This will be an opportunity for parents and carers to:

☕ Enjoy a cuppa and meet other parents and carers
💬 Chat informally about SEND and any questions or concerns you may have
👥 Meet members of the Inclusion and Intervention Support Team (IIST)
💡 Hear about ideas and approaches that may help support children with additional needs
❓ Ask questions and find out more about support that may be available
🏫 Speak with Miss Noble, who will also be there to offer support and answer questions

There is no need to book, but we would really appreciate it if you could email Miss Noble to let us know you are coming, so we can make sure we have plenty of drinks and treats!

🌐 Online Safety with Simon Aston! 🌐

Last week, we were delighted to welcome the online safety guru, Simon Aston, to school to work with our Year 5 and Year 6 children.

Simon delivered a highly interactive, engaging and informative session, covering a range of important topics linked to staying safe in the digital world. Our children impressed us with their mature attitudes, sensible viewpoints and thoughtful contributions throughout. They engaged in some incredibly insightful discussions and showed a real understanding of the importance of making safe and responsible choices online.

We would encourage all parents and carers to spend some time talking with their children about the topics discussed during the session. These conversations at home are invaluable in helping children navigate the ever-changing online world safely and confidently.

💻📱 Parents, your turn next! We are very much looking forward to welcoming Simon back soon to deliver our parent online safety information evening. It's a fantastic opportunity to gain expert advice, ask questions and learn more about how we can all work together to keep our children safe online.

🎃👻 HALLOWEEN FUN WEEK AT COGENHOE PRIMARY SCHOOL! 👻🎃

We’ve got a spooktacular week of fun coming up! 🧡🖤 From pumpkin carving and movie night to creepy cooking, disco dancing and a sweet treat hunt, there’s something to get everyone in the Halloween spirit! 🕷️🦇

⚽🏆 What a Tournament! 🏆⚽

Last week, 10 of our Year 5 and 6 children represented the school at the Open Schools Football Festival held at Redwell Leisure Centre. With 16 teams taking part, it was a fantastic day of football, teamwork and determination.

After a disappointing start with a loss in our opening match, the team showed incredible resilience, bouncing back to win their next two group games and secure a place in the Cup Finals. 💪⚽

The quarter-final against local rivals Ruskin was one of the most dramatic matches imaginable. After a fiercely contested 12-minute game finished 0-0, the winner had to be decided by penalties. An incredible 22 penalties later, we edged through 11-10 in a real nail-biting finish! 😱👏

In the semi-final, we faced an unbeaten Earls Barton side. Despite a fantastic performance and giving everything they had, the team narrowly missed out on a place in the final, losing 2-1.

We are so proud of every player. Seven of our ten squad members got their names on the scoresheet throughout the day, and the skill, teamwork and sportsmanship on display were outstanding. 🌟

Although we didn't lift the overall trophy, we finished an amazing 4th out of 16 schools and, even better, were crowned the Top Small School at the festival! 🏅

This means we have qualified for the County Finals as Small Schools Winners. We now have a chilly January tournament to look forward to, and we can't wait to see what this talented team can achieve next!

Well done, team! We are incredibly proud of you all. ⚽💙

☀️🏏 Cricket Stars in Year 3! 🏏☀️

We are so lucky to benefit from our fantastic partnership with Northants Cricket, who deliver bespoke cricket sessions for all of our Key Stage 2 children. We are proud to have a MUGA to allow sport to happen all year round.

Our Year 3 children had a brilliant time developing their skills, working as a team and, most importantly, having lots of fun in the sunshine! 🌞 From batting and bowling to fielding challenges, the enthusiasm and effort on display were wonderful to see.

And what a day for it! 😎

A huge thank you to the coaches from Northants Cricket for inspiring our young sports stars and helping to foster a love of physical activity and sport.

📚🌟 Final Day of Our Scholastic Book Fair! 🌟📚

Just a reminder that today is the final day of our roaming Scholastic Book Fair, which will be available after school this afternoon!

The children have absolutely loved visiting the Book Fair throughout the week, eagerly browsing the fantastic selection of books and carefully creating their wish lists. There has been so much excitement around reading, with children enthusiastically sharing recommendations and discussing which books they hope to take home! 📖✨

We can't wait to see the final amount raised and discover how many new books we will be able to purchase for our school. Every purchase helps us earn rewards that can be used to enhance our classroom libraries and reading areas, benefiting children across the school.

As always, a huge thank you to our amazing PTA for organising such a wonderful event for our children and families. Your hard work and dedication help create memorable experiences and opportunities for our pupils, and we are incredibly grateful for all that you do. ❤️

🌟 A Sneak Peek into Year 1 Today! 🌟

What a wonderful visit to Year 1 today! 📚✏️

Whilst half of the class were busy completing their 'Hot Writes', the other half were hard at work creating their Skeletons as part of their Talk for Writing journey.

I was lucky enough to welcome a few of our Year 1 children to share their writing with me, and I was absolutely blown away by the progress they have made in a matter of weeks! The improvement from their Cold Write to their Hot Write is simply incredible and is a real testament to their hard work, determination and the fantastic teaching taking place in the classroom.

There were some very proud headteachers, teachers and children all round today! 😊

A huge well done to all of our amazing Year 1 pupils. Keep up the fantastic work - we can't wait to see what you achieve next! ⭐

Our commitment to lifelong learning is something we live and breathe at Cogenhoe Primary School, and it certainly doesn’t stop with the children! 🌟

Yesterday, our teaching staff came together for a dedicated "Power Hour" working lunch, continuing our professional learning journey following a four-week intensive training programme on Talk for Writing.

Giving up their lunch break, staff worked collaboratively to share effective practice, celebrate the impact already being seen in classrooms, and plan the exciting next steps for developing writing across the school. It was wonderful to hear colleagues reflecting on successes and supporting one another to ensure the very best outcomes for our pupils.

A special mention must go to our incredible EYFS team, whose work was recently featured on the Talk for Writing platform as an exemplar of outstanding teaching and the fantastic outcomes being achieved by children. We could not be prouder of this recognition and everything they do each day. 👏

The session was led by our Headteacher, Mrs Oldham, whose passion and enthusiasm for the Talk for Writing approach continues to inspire staff and drive improvements across the school.

As always, we are immensely proud of our dedicated team. The willingness of our staff to continually learn, grow and refine their practice is one of the many reasons our children receive such a high-quality education every day.

And the learning doesn't stop there! Our next round of Talk for Writing training will focus on our amazing support staff, who play such a vital role in supporting individuals and groups of children during literacy lessons. We can't wait to continue this journey together.

🌟 Welcome to Cogenhoe, Mrs Partridge-Underwood! 🌟

We are delighted to welcome Mrs Partridge-Underwood to our Year 6 classroom, where she will be joining us for a number of weeks as part of her teacher training journey.

Mrs Partridge-Underwood is excited to be embarking on her teaching career, and we know that our children and families will give her a very warm Cogenhoe welcome. During her placement, she will be working alongside our staff team, developing her skills and gaining valuable classroom experience.

At Cogenhoe Primary School, we are passionate about working in partnership with the University of Northampton and playing our part in supporting the next generation of teaching professionals. We are proud to share excellent practice and help inspire future educators as they begin their careers in education.

We look forward to seeing Mrs Partridge-Underwood grow in confidence and experience over the coming weeks and are delighted to have her as part of our school community.
