Paycocke's House & Coggeshall Grange Barn NT Paycocke's is a house and garden in Coggeshall, Essex. Built in 1509 it is a fine example of a Tudor Merchants House.

Grange Barn is a stunning timber-framed barn built sometime after 1240, and both properties are owned by the National Trust.

We’ll be welcoming back Suffolk Market Events this month with their ever-popular 'Market at the Barn' 🤩

A celebration of locally produced food, drink and crafts, you’ll find local arts and crafts as well as gazebos, horseboxes and food trucks offering a mouth-watering selection of both local artisan produce and delicious hot street food.

📆 Date: Saturday 19th September
⏰ Time: 10am – 3pm
🌾 Venue: Grange Barn, Coggeshall

We’ll never miss an opportunity to shout about our second-hand bookshop, especially as today is National Read a Book Day!

Whether you’re the type to read a book in a day, or savour a particularly good ending for weeks, we’ve got all sorts of stories to dive into during the colder months ahead ❄️

And if you’re already joining us for a browse, we’d be grateful to receive any donations of books you’ve finished enjoying 📚

Our second-hand bookshop is free to enter, and is open Friday – Monday, 10:45am – 4pm.

Join us for free volunteer-led tours of the 13th-century monastic Grange Barn, Byre and grounds. Why not make a day of your visit and explore other local heritage attractions, including St Nicholas Chapel, Coggeshall Museum and of course, Paycocke’s House & Garden?

Somehow there’s only 2 weekends left of our summer garden games! We’ve loved all the positive feedback we’ve had from visitors both young and old getting involved with the activities on offer.

We’d love to know your thoughts! What’s been your favourite activities to try at Paycocke’s this summer? ☀️ and if you haven’t had the chance to visit us yet, it’s not too late! Our summer garden games are free of charge with no pre-booking required, and are on until 31st August.
