Did you know we've recently had an emergency bleeding kit installed at our station

The kits are designed to help control catastrophic bleeding in the vital minutes before emergency services arrive.

Each kit contains specialist trauma equipment including advanced dressings, chest seals and a tourniquet, alongside protective and resuscitation equipment.

In an emergency, members of the public can access a kit by calling 999, where Control Room operators provide guidance on retrieval and use.

Read more about these kits and the Liam Taylor Legacy in the comments.

The UK government is testing the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3pm. Compatible mobile phones and tablets will receive an alert, make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate. You will not need to take any action.

The Emergency Alerts system is used to warn if there’s a danger to life nearby, including extreme weather. Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly, should it need to be used in a life-threatening emergency.

Thursday's tends to be a busy day, with it being our drill night. Today we wore many hats, our crews were privileged to be invited and attend the Asian Fire Service Association conference hosted by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, where we met and heard from some amazing people from various roles and positions from across the country, we also managed to squeeze in a couple of fire calls, before spending the evening at an exercise with colleagues from Chelmsford, Maldon, and Wivenhoe Firestations.

Yesterday morning Coggeshall firefighters were mobilised to a fire in the open in Bradwell, on arrival crews requested the assistance of 3 further appliances from Braintree Fire Station, Wethersfield Fire Station, Halstead Fire Station. Due to the location a Water bowser from Halstead fire station was also requested. Fantastic teamwork between crews stopped the fire from spreading and then carried out a controlled burn.

Crews at this incident were on call firefighters, this means they live or work within 5 mins of their fire station and respond to a pager. Do you fancy serving your community? Find out more at the link below.
