The Tenant Satisfaction Measures survey gives tenants and leaseholders the chance to tell us how we're doing as a landlord.

Learning and improving 🛠️

We’re pleased to see a continued reduction in complaints about our repairs service, with overall complaints falling by 24.5% compared with the previous year. Complaints during the first quarter also fell by 11%.

These figures are encouraging, but we know there is always more to do. Every complaint helps us understand where something has gone wrong and what needs to change. Our Repairs Team is using that feedback to improve the service and provide a better experience for customers.

A smaller home, with less to manage 🤔🏡 Could rightsizing make life easier for you or a family member?

A new two-bedroom bungalow will become available in September, offering a more manageable living space, potentially lower household costs and a home better suited to changing needs. Moving can also free up a larger family home for someone who needs it. 🔑

We can arrange a look around once it's ready when we'll hold an open day. There’s no pressure, no obligation and you don’t need to be registered or actively looking to move – you’re welcome to visit if you’re simply curious about the options for yourself or a relative. 😊

The bungalow will be advertised through the Gateway to Homechoice scheme, allowing registered applicants to place bids for the property. An open day will also be held for social housing tenants who are currently under-occupying their homes and may be interested in rightsizing.

Colchester’s history brought to life! 🏛️📸

Residents at Grymes D**e Court recently told us they’d like to learn more about the history of their city – so we invited Simon Robinson from Colchester Museums along for a special talk as part of the Colchester: Now & Then project. 😊

Historic photographs and artefacts were passed around, prompting plenty of memories and lively conversations. Pictures of former local businesses proved particularly popular, with residents sharing their own stories and recollections of Colchester over the years. ❤️

The session was so well received that we’re now arranging similar talks at our other sheltered housing schemes. 👏

You're Invited to afternoon Tea! ☕

We’re updating our Staff Code of Conduct – the standards, behaviours and values our colleagues are expected to demonstrate – and we’d like CBH residents to help shape it.

Join us for an informal afternoon tea where you can look through the proposed changes and tell us what matters most to you. This could include how we put residents at the heart of decisions, communicate openly, take responsibility and treat everyone with fairness, respect and empathy.

Join us at the Oak Tree Centre for an afternoon of music, stalls, face painting, a bouncy castle, ice cream and a BBQ. 🍦🎨🎶

We had a great time at Colchester Pride last week! 🏳️‍🌈💜

Thank you to everyone who visited the CBH stall. We had some lovely conversations about housing applications, mutual exchanges and the many ways customers can get involved and help shape our services. 🏠🙋

A highlight was watching our CBH tree fill with colourful painted hearts – creating a wonderful display of inclusion, support and community spirit. Thank you to everyone who added one! 🎨❤️

We were also proud to share our work towards the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge, reflecting our commitment to making CBH’s services welcoming, inclusive and supportive for LGBTQ+ customers. We’re now looking forward to receiving the results of our submission at the end of August. 🫶
