🌟🌟 EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT 🌟🌟

First sight of our ‘big boy’ full size statue before the Bronze patternation starts.

18:00 tonight!

This week Tommy, Dean and Co (John Hill and Stuart Allen) visited our fabulous sculptor Goodman at her workshop in Wiltshire which is co-located with the ‘Talos’ foundry.

The pure Bronze has been poured and created, with nearly all the sections pieced together to give the first sight of its full size one piece. Hugely impressive!

Don’t miss out to get first glimpse - reel will be published at 18:00 on both Amy’s social media and our statue page.

We are delighted to present ‘Party Entertainments’ attractions, fun and games at our ‘Airborne Heritage Fete’ after the unveiling, on the Garrison Cricket Pitch - 31 Jul, from 12:00.

Lots of fun, laughter and games for all the kids. All free, and all you need to do is come along!

Get your registrations done via the link in the post. Unlimited tickets, free, no cost, you only pay for your food and drink on the day (cash or card).

Lots of attractions, displays and stands, fun games for the kids, rides, slides and bouncy things, music and fun, world foods and bar. And of course, our paratroopers will display their kit too.

Red Devils Freefall display and the Airborne Riders will show off their fantastic motorcycles.

6 WEEKS TO GO!

As we start pulling the logistics together and prepare for our final planning round, matters are lining up as intended.

Still much to do. Today we prepared our hand made bricks at WH Colliers traditional brick making company in Marks Tey.

Big shout out to Nikki and the team who ensured that we matched the bricks of the original 1870s buildings adjacent to where the statue will be. These building were also the Headquarters of RHQ PARA and HQ Army South East District when 16 Air Assault Brigade reestablished in Colchester in 1999/2000.

These bricks are now being transported to Hook, near Aldershot and Dorset, to be laid as part of the statue plinth.

Both the base step and top of the plinth under the cap stone will be three courses of this brickwork so that it complements the historic environment.

All parts of the plinth are being made off site and delivered cast made / brick work done. This will ensure we minimise any environmental risk / damage.

The concrete base was being poured today, cast and shaped, ready for delivery and installation over weekend 17,18,19 Jul.

Our big boy Bronze is also nearing completion, but more on that shortly……., he is looking fantastic! 😉

A lovely ‘G.D. Golding’ PARA Regt Warrant Officer / SNCO Mess Dress available.

Medium size, would fit a 42 chest.

Trousers are:
36 inch waist
31 inch inside leg
41 inch outside (just above the hip line).

Waistcoat buttons are a fabulous old school version, top quality.
