We have just been advised of the following highway disruption:

Mannington substation – Upcoming Transformer delivery

I wanted to update you regarding a large transformer delivery expected at our Mannington substation in May.

A transformer converts the voltage of electricity so that it can be safely supplied to homes and businesses.

We are expecting the delivery of the transformer during the late afternoon of Saturday 23 May 2026. The transformer is expected to leave Poole Harbour early that morning. Please note, the date and time of the delivery is subject to change. If there is any change, we will let you know as soon as possible.

We will contact residents and business close along the route closest to the substation once the delivery is confirmed in early May. In the meantime, please share the information in this letter with your constituents and other local community groups, and via your communications platforms.

We have carefully planned the route with our specialist haulage contractors, Allelys, and the local highway authorities to minimise the disruption to road users. The vehicle will have an es**rt to help manage traffic and make the process as smooth and safe as possible.

Due to the size of the delivery, we will be using a slow-moving transporter vehicle to ensure that this delivery can take place safely. This will mean there will be some rolling road closures, as the vehicle carrying the equipment travels north from Poole Harbour along Blandford Road, before turning eastbound onto the A35/A350. The vehicle will then travel north on the A349 (Gravel Hill) before turning east onto the A31 and then north on Ringwood Road. The transformer will then turn westbound along Horton Road and Ringwood Road before arriving at Mannington substation on Holt Road (see map below).

Colehill Town Council are proud to support Colehill Cricket Club and Colehill Sports & Social Club who are launching a new free junior cricket initiative for local children.
Open to ages 5–11 and 11–13, the community programme will begin at 4:30pm on Thursday 30 April 2026 at the CSSC clubhouse, Colehill. Sessions will continue every Thursday from 4:30pm to 6:30pm throughout the 2026 cricket season.
Led by an ECB-accredited coach and supported by local players, the initiative offers young people the opportunity to try cricket in a fun and welcoming environment. No experience or equipment is needed, and all kit will be provided. Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend and refreshments will be available.
Parents and carers interested in supporting the coaching sessions are also invited to get involved with support provided by the Cricket Club.
To register interest, please email [email protected], including the child’s age and experience level (none, some, or experienced).

We are getting a few reports of alleged Planning Permission breaches into the Clerk with requests to take these up with Dorset Council. Whilst we are happy to do this - Dorset Council have a dedicated section on their website for reporting Planning Permission breach enquiries/reports - https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/w/planning-enforcement which is designed for the public to use at any time. The report then generates a reference number which can then be used to 'chase' or follow up directly with Dorset. Reporting directly cuts out us as a 'middleman' and speeds up information coming back to concerned residents.

Report your concerns about possible unauthorised development.

This is not a Council meeting, but a meeting of residents which the Council organise on residents behalf - with an open forum for attendees to discuss anything Colehill-related amongst each other.
