St John Ambulance Coleraine Unit A charitable first aid and ambulance organisation providing training and event cover.

What we do

St John Ambulance teaches people first aid – about 800,000 last year alone – so that they can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved. Thousands of the people we trained went on to offer their skills and time to be the difference right in the heart of their community, as St John Ambulance volunteers – to provide first aid at public events, to be Community First Responders who attend emergency calls and provide care until the ambulance arrives, to provide patient transport, or as back up to local ambulance services during local major emergencies. We have special first aid programmes for schools and activities for young people.

🚑🏉🏑 A WONDERFUL MORNING AT LIMAVADY GRAMMAR SCHOOL! 💚

What a fantastic morning of sport at Limavady Grammar School today! ☀️

Our St John Ambulance Coleraine crew were on hand providing ambulance and first aid cover for four rugby matches and one hockey match! 🚑

👏 What an incredible display of sporting talent, teamwork and determination!

A massive well done to all the teams involved! It was a real pleasure to watch so many talented young sportspeople giving their all on the pitches.

During term time, our volunteers are at Limavady Grammar School most Saturdays, helping to keep players, spectators and staff safe.

It’s a real privilege and joy to be part of these sporting mornings, watching young talent develop while supporting our local community. 💚

🚑 WE’RE RECRUITING | FIRST AID TRAINERS - NORTH WEST

St John Ambulance (NI) is looking for experienced and enthusiastic First Aid Trainers to join our training team, with a particular focus on delivering courses across Derry/Londonderry and the wider North West area.

📍 Based from: Foyle Hub, Skeoge Industrial Estate, Derry/Londonderry
💷 £24.37 per hour
🚗 Mileage and travel time allowances
🕐 Zero-hours contract with flexible scheduling
📅 Weekday availability is essential

What we’re looking for:

• A recognised training/assessing qualification, such as Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent
• A valid First Aid at Work certificate, or current GMC, NMC or HCPC registration
• At least one year’s experience delivering first aid training
• Flexibility to travel and deliver training at workplace and community venues

You’ll be delivering high-quality First Aid at Work and other first aid courses, helping people across Northern Ireland develop the skills and confidence to respond in an emergency.

🚑💚 What a week for St John Ambulance Coleraine!

It’s been another incredibly busy week for our volunteers, doing what we do best — supporting our communities and keeping people safe at events across Northern Ireland.

⛺ Throughout the week, our crews have had the privilege of providing medical cover for New Horizon NI at Ulster University. This is an event we are proud to support year after year, and it’s always fantastic to be part of such a great week.

🐾 We were also delighted to provide medical cover for the Coleraine Canine Club Dog Show — certainly a different type of event for our crews, but another great opportunity to support an event within our local community! 🐕💚

🎆 We finished off the week on the North Coast, with our crews providing medical cover at the Causeway Coast & Glens Fireworks in Portrush — another brilliant event right on our doorstep.

🎶 And we couldn’t finish this post without recognising our fantastic St John colleagues from across Northern Ireland and England, who have come together to provide extensive medical cover at the Belfast Fleadh, all while units continue to keep local events covered across the country.

None of this happens without our incredible volunteers — giving up their time, working together and being there when people need us most. A massive thank you to every volunteer who has pulled on the green uniform this week! 💚👏

☀️ What a weekend, and what fantastic weather we’ve been having!

Since Friday, crews from St John Ambulance Coleraine Unit have been providing event cover across the North Coast, with teams in Ballycastle helping ensure everyone could enjoy the sunshine and festivities safely.

Our volunteers have also been busy covering events in Dunloy on Saturday and again today, continuing to support local communities throughout a packed weekend of activity.

A huge thank you to all of our dedicated crews for giving up their time and working tirelessly to keep people safe while everyone enjoyed the celebrations. 👏💚

🚨 Let’s get behind Adrian, Annie & Lois! 🚨

Everyone at St John Ambulance Coleraine Unit would like to wish Adrian, Annie and Lois the very best for Saturday as they take on an incredible 9-hour CPR Marathon at CastleCourt Shopping Centre, Belfast. ❤️🚑

Our valued student paramedics will be joining their colleagues to help raise funds for equipment and resources for the Ulster University Paramedicine Society.

Throughout the day, they’ll also be teaching members of the public vital bystander CPR skills — helping build confidence, awareness, and knowledge that could one day save a life.

This is an amazing challenge and a fantastic cause, and we are incredibly proud to support them.
