A successful morning at the seafront - no parking tickets issued and no dogs to remove from the beach. Plenty of people in the sea enjoying our wonderful bay.

Want to become a Parish Councillor? We have a vacancy for a person wanting to help the village become the best that it can be. We can offer training and support so you won't be thrown in the deep end! Attitude is more important than qualifications, so if you feel that the Parish Council is something that you want to sign up to, now could be the time to put yourself forward.
Not sure? then current Councillors or the Clerk will be happy to chat about what is required. We also have a page in the "Services" area of the Council website with more information.
We choose our new Councillor at the September council meeting so you have a few weeks to think it over but it can be a very rewarding way of giving something back to the community.

I took a call in the office about dogs on the beach. Andy Charlesworth was busy, so I put on my Enforcement Officer vest and went to the seafront (the benefit of having 2 full time enforcement officers!) When I got there the only dogs were on Newberry beach. Happy that there were no dogs on the beach and that people were pleased to see the Council patrolling it.
After checking the beach, I went up to Parade car park. While I was there I spoke to 3 separate people who hadn't realised that parking meter money goes to the Parish Council ( to benefit the local area) while Penalty Notice money goes to the District Council.

Please help us to improve our bathing water quality by respecting the dog ban. (The pollution incidents which lead to us losing our "Good" quality were mostly dog waste related.) This year we have two full time members of staff with delegated powers from NDC to enforce the dog ban. They have access to Fixed Penalty Notice (£100) and to Community Protection Warnings/Notices (£2500), none of this goes to the Parish Council so we have no financial incentive to issue them, please don't make us.
The dog ban (1st May - 30th September) covers all of the area highlighted on the map, so as well as the beach, it includes the rocks, the rock pools, the cliffs and the concrete "path".
