If anything can put an end to weeks of drought, it must be a Bank Holiday weekend with outdoor events arranged. However, music lovers were undeterred, coats and umbrellas were retrieved from storage, and plenty of people came to enjoy some great performances at the Physic Garden on Saturday. Magnolia Junction got things off to a great start, with some relaxing, warm and engaging blues and jazz. Then it was time for audience participation, as the Drumroots Drumming Workshop invited new drummers to learn some skills, drowning out the rhythm of raindrops on the roof. The Tanante percussion group then gave a hypnotic and lively performance of their own. The afternoon was rounded off perfectly by Darren and Trish, with thoughtful and humorous song lyrics and guitar, and haunting harmonica.

We are excited to welcome The Congleton Jazz & Blues Festival to the Physic Garden from 2pm on Saturday 29th August. It looks the perfect set of gigs for a great afternoon in the garden. There will be a refreshments stall, with tea and coffee, home made cakes and non-alcoholic cold drinks.

What an afternoon of community entertainment we have in store at the beautiful, family friendly Congleton Bath House and Physic Garden on Saturday (29th). Join us for one of Magnolia Junction's first gigs, with festival godfather Vince and two other former members of Cry Baby and the Hoochie Coochie Boys. Get involved in a drumming workshop run by the superb Drumroots team, and stick around for another awesome percussion performance from Tanante. Then chill out in the late afternoon with festival favourite Darren Poyzer - expect loads of singalong pop classics. So if you fancy a break from the pubs/bars there's no better place to be 😎🎶

Details of all of our venues' gigs will be on social media over the coming fortnight. And make sure to pick up a programme from a venue in town, or download a digital copy from our website: www.congletonjazzandblues.co.uk

JUMP INTO THE WORLD OF PLANTS!

Already this Sunday, Garden Stories opens at the historic Bath House and Physic Garden - five interactive family activity stations connected by the story of a bear who has just woken up after a very long sleep.

The bear has discovered that plants can help in all sorts of surprising ways - but which one should he choose?

At this station, children will jump between giant plant cards as they discover which plants were once used to help with different everyday problems.

Join us at the Garden Stories Open Day this Sunday, 11am-3pm. Programme will be also available all Saturday across July and August (except last one).
