Have you ever looked at your child and wondered… “Is this normal?”

From age 3 right through to age 25, we’ll be exploring how the brain develops, what that can look like in everyday life, and the simple things that help children and young people thrive.

Today’s post begins at age 3—a time when curiosity explodes, emotions are big, independence blossoms and little brains are making millions of new connections every day.

Every child develops at their own pace, so these posts aren’t intended as milestones that every child must reach by a certain age. Instead, they’re designed to help you understand the development behind what you see.

We’re delighted to announce that our popular Glenroyd House Summer Activities will be running again throughout the school holidays! 🎉
📅 Running for 6 weeks
🗓️ Monday & Thursday afternoons
⏰ 1.00pm – 5.00pm
📆 Starting Thursday 23rd July until Thursday 27th August 2026
These fun-filled sessions are available for children who are eligible for Free School Meals. 🍎
🎨 Expect plenty of activities, fun, creativity and opportunities to make new friends during the summer break!
🎟️ BOOK ONLINE:
Use the ticket provided by your school to book your child’s place through Durham County Council.
Spaces are limited, so make sure you secure your place early! 🌞

🫶Huge well done to some of our children who have been over to the play park across from our nursery and picked up all the litter that's been left on the ground!
The children used the grabbers really well, developing their hand-eye coordination and large hand and grasping movements.
Topic of conversation " why cant people put their rubbish in a bin?" one child even said ' there's one just there'
They collected lots of littler and left the play park nice and tidy.. the rubbish went into our big bin at nursery! 🌈🌈🗑

On Friday, our lovely preschool children and their families celebrated their nursery graduation here at New Beginnings!
It was a lovely, fun filled afternoon with lots of smiles and sometimes tears, as the children come to the end of their journey here before they start reception class!
Thank you to everyone for coming, we appreciate you all and wish you the best for the future 😃
