The pupils took advantage of the sunshine over the past few days to complete a range of events ahead of Sports Day in a few weeks’ time.

The events were-

🌿 New Sensory Beds in Our School Garden 🌼

We were delighted to welcome Dominic from Garden Corner (Cookstown), who visited Coagh Primary School to deliver a wonderful selection of flowers and shrubs for our new sensory beds.

Dominic shared his expertise with our Eco Committee, offering valuable advice on choosing and planting a variety of sensory-focused plants.

With support from Mrs Montgomery and Miss Willis, the pupils worked together to carefully plant and develop this exciting new area of the school garden.

The sensory beds will be a fantastic addition to our outdoor environment, providing opportunities for pupils to explore different colours, textures and scents.

It was lovely to see so many children already enjoying the rich range of fragrances and engaging with the space.

We look forward to watching the garden continue to grow and flourish 🌱✨

*** Accelerated Reading Success ***

This morning in assembly, we were delighted to celebrate some fantastic Accelerated Reader achievements across the school.

Matthew McM (P5) was presented with his second Bronze Star after reading an impressive 1,250,000 words.

Emily F (P6) received a Gold Star for reaching 1 million words

Eden Grace (P7) was awarded a Silver Star for reading 500,000 words.

Everly (P6), Charlie (P5), Ava (P5) and Susie (P4) each earned a Bronze Star for achieving 250,000 words.

We are also aware that several other pupils are very close to reaching their next milestone. Keep reading, keep challenging yourselves, and we look forward to celebrating your achievements soon.

Well done everyone—keep up the fantastic reading!

P4/5 Journey to the Postbox

Over the past few weeks, our P4/5 class have been exploring Creative Writing, with a focus on how we communicate with others. The pupils have been learning about different ways of communicating, particularly how to write letters to people who may live far away.

They explored both formal and informal letter writing, developing their skills and applying a range of techniques in their own writing. The children worked extremely hard to produce thoughtful and well presented letters, choosing a special person to send them to.

Today, the class enjoyed a walk to the postbox, where they posted their letters. It was a lovely, real-life experience that brought their learning to life.

We are now eagerly waiting and hoping that some replies will arrive before the end of term in June!

🌟🧶 Wonderful P7 Keepsakes 💛🎓

A massive thank you to Eden Grace’s wonderful 'Granny Dawn' for her incredibly thoughtful and generous gift to our P7 pupils.

'Granny Dawn' kindly created and sent in a beautiful ‘Leavers Keepsake’ for each of our P7 pupils and teachers. Inside every pack was a stunning hand crocheted doll, each one uniquely crafted with exceptional care and incredible attention to detail.

The pupils were absolutely delighted to receive their keepsakes. There were plenty of smiles all round especially from Mr Bayne, who was very pleased to see that his very own doll even had hair!

Thank you for your kindness, creativity, and the time you dedicated to making such meaningful gifts. These will be treasured by both pupils and staff for many years to come.

** Caleb excels in Manchester **

We are delighted to hear that our P4 pupil, Caleb, proudly represented Coagh United at a 3v3 football tournament in Manchester this week.

A total of 19 teams across the U7, U8 and U9 age groups travelled from Northern Ireland, Scotland, Ireland and England to compete in the tournament. Caleb and his teammates, Harvey and Alfie James, performed brilliantly and finished in a very close 2nd place.

As well as receiving their trophies, all of the Northern Ireland teams were presented with a football after being chosen as the organisers’ favourite country, in recognition of the positive behaviour, kindness and helpfulness shown by the boys and their coaches throughout the event.

A fantastic achievement for everyone involved at Coagh United Youth and a wonderful experience for the players. Well done, boys!
