DAERA Public Consultation on Rural NI: Our New Approach 2026-2041
CDM Community Transport along with Easilink Community Transport was pleased to be part of the co-design process for the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs new 15-year Rural Policy, Rural NI: Our New Approach 2026–2041.

This policy has been shaped through engagement with rural organisations, communities and stakeholders, ensuring that rural voices and lived experience are at the heart of future decision-making.

So what does this mean for rural communities?
This new long-term approach aims to:
• Put rural voices at the centre of government decision-making
• Strengthen local partnerships to deliver real change on the ground
• Improve understanding of rural needs across all departments
• Support more resilient, connected and sustainable rural communities
• Ensure policies are shaped in line with the Rural Needs Act (Northern Ireland) 2016
At its core, this policy is about recognising the value of rural communities and ensuring they have the support, investment, and influence needed to thrive over the next 15 years.
RCN will continue to work with our members and partners to ensure this policy delivers meaningful outcomes for rural people and places.

Today we had the honour of attending a celebration of the life of Meta Shannon, a devoted member of the CDM Community Transport team for over 20 years.

As one of our Minibus Drivers and a MiDAS Driving Assessor, Meta gave so much of herself to the organisation and to our members through her dedication, care, and professionalism. Her quick wit was a particular favourite and brought joy to all who knew her.

The guard of honour formed by staff spoke volumes about the impact she had on everyone at CDM, and will have a lasting impact on those who were there to honour her.

Though Meta will be sadly missed, her kindness and commitment will remain forever in our hearts.

EVENT POSTPONED
It is with great sadness that we must postpone our Disability Information Event scheduled for Wednesday 25th March.

This decision follows the sudden passing of Ursula Marshall, Chair of the Mid Ulster Disability Forum and Vice Chair of Mobility Mid Ulster. Ursula has been at the forefront of this event, as well as many disability and community initiatives, for over 20 years. Her loss will be deeply felt throughout our community.

We will reschedule the event in due course and share the new date when available.

Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time.
