The Benefits of Installing An Intruder Alarm System
It’s a sad fact that your home or business could be at risk of break-ins. Even if you live in a statistically safe area, you probably worry about leaving your property, especially for long periods of time. Security alarm systems can help to alleviate this worry, as well as providing real protection for the important things in your property.

Here are five great reasons to install an Intruder alarm system in your home or place of work.

Protect what you love and value
The average home has a lot of valuable items inside. These days there is plenty of stuff worth taking, including mobile phones, televisions, games consoles, stereos, cinema-systems, jewellery and expensive clothes. On top of this, car thieves often break into people’s homes in order to steal their keys and then take their vehicle.

Businesses can hold valuable stock, lots of specialised equipment, and employee possessions. On top of this, your premises could contain sensitive customer information. A break-in, even if no personal data is taken, may cause concerns among your clients.

Cheaper insurance
The more protected your items, the less likely they are to be stolen. Thieves are looking for the easiest time – they aren’t going to bother with a well-protected home or business premises. Just the sight of burglar alarms can be enough to deter an otherwise interested intruder.

This means that installing an intruder alarm system in your property can lower your insurance premiums. Your saving will depend upon your particular provider, but you could see a significant reduction in the cost of your premiums.

Higher home value when selling
Intruder alarms keep your home safe, and contribute to a safer neighbourhood. These are both desirable qualities for a house, which is reflected in the price you can ask for it. If you are thinking about selling you home, or are simply open to the possibility in the future, a security alarm system is a good way to boost the value of your property.

Leave your property for long periods without worrying
Most people go on holiday to get away from their home or work life. There’s no point ‘leaving’ your mind at home or in the workplace and spending the whole time you are away worrying about what might happen. An intruder alarm system keeps everything covered, deterring thieves even in your absence. That way, you can relax and enjoy your holiday, safe in the knowledge your building and valuables will be exactly as you left them.

Remotely monitor your home
More advanced systems come equipped with cameras so that you can check what’s happening in your home. This is particularly useful if you are worried about what your teenagers might get up to when they are away, or have pets you want to keep tabs on. Some security systems include remote locking, so you can ensure that windows and doors are always locked.

Keep the things you care about protected. View our range of security systems or contact us for more information.

Benefits of Access Control Systems
An Access Control System is a security solution that grants or denies access to a building or area. This system can be managed fairly easily and remotely so that those in charge of it have complete control over who can enter and exit. Knowing what the benefits of an access control system are will help you in finding the right one for you and your business.

Easily Managed
Among the most popular aspects of an access control system is the fact that it is so easy to manage the process of handling entrance and tracking of those in your premises. Using an access control system gives you the ability to monitor all traffic in and out of a location.

Monitor Activity
With an access control system installed you can easily track any activity in your building, whether that’s your own employees, delivery people or visitors. In the event of a break-in or theft you will be able to see who has accessed your building and the rooms therein where the access control system is set up to monitor activity.

Customise Access Times
Modern access control systems allow you to designate specific times for employees, visitors and anyone else to be granted entry. With this you can restrict employee entry to working hours, or if you are having visitors to the building you can restrict them to a set period of time. Adjusting access times can be done quickly and easily and will not interfere with security you have in place.

Different Levels of Credentials
It is possible to require specific credentials for access to different areas using your access control system. This means that different badges can be issued depending on an individuals clearance and to keep track of who can access what areas in your premises.

Do Away With Traditional Keys
Creating and keeping track of traditional keys can be a big hassle, which is why access control systems are so popular for businesses of all sizes. Without having to use traditional keys you will no longer have to track keys that have been issued or worry about a key being copied and shared.

Make Entry and Exit Easy
When you want to know exactly who is coming in and leaving your building at all times then an access control system is a must. Streamlining access to your building helps you save time and money that can be re-focussed on other areas of your business. Tracking traffic in this way reduces the need for manual labour for building security to function.

Bolster Security and Minimise Risk
Moving to an access control system is one of the easiest ways to improve security in your building. The system not only better tracks who is in the building, it also provides deeper information about who is accessing specific rooms and how often. If you ever suffer a security breach, break-in or attempted hacking then you can easily track who has accessed where in your building.

PAVA Systems: A Solution to Poor Response
Experiments have shown that only a limited number of people were able to recognise the sound of a fire alarm. This can be a big problem for buildings that rely on alarm systems in case of emergencies as such systems are not of much use if nobody responds to the alarm being sounded. Further investigation has shown that the use of voice messages in an emergency situation improve responsiveness from building occupants, meaning PAVA Systems offer a clear advantage over more basic alarm systems.

Poor Response to Fire Alarms Explained
Poor or limited response to a fire alarm puts lives at risk and understanding why certain fire alarm systems are so ineffective is extremely important. There are a number of varied reasons:

Non-recognition of the alarm, believing that a genuine fire alarm would sound different.

Belief that the alarm being sounded is a false alarm.

Seeing the work or activity they are doing is more important than taking the alarm seriously.

Considering the situation to be low-risk

PAVA Systems Explained
Public Address and Voice Alert Systems assist in evacuating buildings safely and effectively in the event of an emergency by giving clear instructions. The system can be utilised by the emergency services during the process to provide updates and information. The system should be advanced enough that it allows intelligent control of the entire system, flexible enough to be configured in various ways, and intuitive enough that it can be operated and programmed easily.

Benefits of Using a PAVA System
The PAVA system can be used to transmit pre-recorded messages and information that are activated depending on which detectors have been triggered. They are most useful when being used to communicate live messages as this is far more likely to generate a response than a pre-recorded message. Live messages can be used to update anyone that is trapped inside a building on developments or to convey an appropriate level of urgency.

Safer Evacuations With PAVA Systems
When a fire alarm sounds people often try to leave a building the way they entered it, which is often the opposite of what they should be doing. A PAVA system can be utilised to guide people to the safest exit from the building.

PAVA systems are particularly useful in high-rise building evacuations in a way that can potentially save lives. An example of this is evacuating the floor on which a fire has occurred first, followed by the floors above and below, before evacuating the rest of the building. This process avoids the risks involved in everyone in a building trying to evacuate at the same time, which can cause panic and lead to injuries. This can only be achieved using a PAVA system to communicate with each floor with specific instructions.

Where is PAVA Most Useful?
PAVA systems that enable tailored communication is of particular importance in large, complex buildings in which the occupants may be unfamiliar with the emergency procedures and emergency exits. This includes buildings such as shopping centres, transport hubs (train stations etc), hospitals, schools, and office buildings.
