We would like to keep danesholme Community Managed Library running in to the future but we need your help with fundraising.

I am not sure if you are aware but we have recently had to close Danesholme Community Managed Library. There are a number of factors behind this but it's mainly to do with the council wanting a commercial rent for the building £5500 a year which is not possible with what we bring in from the library.

At the moment without the rent increase it costs around £10,000 a year to run the building. It does need a lot od upgrades due to having storage heaters that cost around £1000 a month to run.

We would like to continue to offer the library service to the community as we are all volunteers and none of us are paid for our time and this would continue.

What I would like to look in to doing is seeing if we can get grants to improve the heating in the building eg air to air heat pump / air conditioning which would greatly reduce the electricity cost in the winter, the building also needs new windows and doors which again would help to reduce the cost of heating the building.

I was thinking about going down the sponsorship route ie going to local companies and asking if they would contribute anything between £500 to £5000 either a year or as a one off to help with the running costs and we would advertise on thier behalf etc.

If you could be of any help please let me know as we really don't want to close the library service on danesholme as alot of residents still use the services.

I would like to look in to fundraising events as well to help with running cost

Unfortunately due to circumstances out of our control the library is now permanently closed. We hope that in the near future we can find a way to keep the library open but due to massive expenses increase it's no longer financially possible to keep the place running. I am having a meeting with Lee baron our MP to discuss if he can help in any way but for now we are permanently closed

Unfortunately due to Volunteer availability we will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday for the foreseeable future. I will update when I have more information
