Kirby Hall

Kirby Hall Explore one of England's greatest Elizabethan and 17th century houses. Kirby Hall once belonged to Queen Elizabeth I's Lord Chancellor, Christopher Hatton.

Today enjoy the mansion's architecture and formal garden laid out by a descendent in 1690s. Kirby Hall is one of England’s greatest Elizabethan and 17th century houses earlier owned by Sir Christopher Hatton, Lord Chancellor to Queen Elizabeth I. Although this vast mansion is partly roofless, the walls show the exceptionally rich decoration that proclaims that its successive owners were always in

the forefront of new ideas about architecture and design. There are also recently restored great gardens with elaborate ‘cutwork’ design complete with statues and urns. This page is for visitors and fans of Kirby Hall to share photos, thoughts and recommendations. Good morning, Northants 💚

Meet Edmund, one of the beautiful peacocks at Kirby Hall.

I had yet another amazing day at this absolute hidden gem yesterday, and honestly, I have so much to tell you! 👻

Hope you’re ready for tonight’s Friday Fright Night stories, because Kirby has definitely given us plenty to talk about.

But first, for Friday Follow, I’d love you all to pop over to the Kirby Hall page and give them a follow. Their latest post shows an amazing ghostly capture, and of course, I just had to go and check it out for myself. 👀

Let’s just say… the place is indeed active.

More on that in tonight’s post.

And while I’m here, did you know English Heritage is currently offering 20% off membership with the code REWARD76
Please do double-check the offer is still active before joining.

If you’re not a member, you can also save by booking your tickets online at least the day before with their early bird ticket option.

Kirby Hall is one of those places where you can easily spend the whole day. You can explore the ruins, wander the grounds, enjoy a hot drink, browse the secondhand books, visit the lovely little shop, or take a picnic and make a proper adventure of it.

Take the kiddos. Take your camera. Take your curiosity.

I promise you, you’re going to fall in love with the place.

And for my ghostly friends, look out for the free information sheet at the entrance desk. 💕

See you tonight for Friday Fright Night… Kirby Hall edition. 👻

We don't know if we believe in ghosts or not... But we're having trouble explaining this photo taken by one of our team when the hall was locked up and empty. We think it looks a lot like a man in a tudor doublet and even a dog to the side as well.

What do you think? Have you ever seen or felt a ghostly presence at Kirby? 👻
