Teams across our hospital have celebrated being named as finalists in the Health Tech Newspaper Awards, thanks to their efforts in supporting patients with suspected heart disease.

Since introducing Heartflow Analysis in 2018, our Trust has improved care for patients with suspected coronary heart disease through innovative, AI-powered technology.

Results have included fewer patients requiring unnecessary invasive diagnostic procedures and faster access to appropriate care.

Today marks the start of . To anyone who has experienced the loss of a baby, our Maternity Services teams at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust are here for you.

Should you or your family like a dedicated space to remember, a remembrance service will be hosted at St Colman's Church, Cosham, this Sunday, 11 October.

If you would like your baby’s name to be added to the tree of remembrance you can attend the chapel from 9th October onwards to place it on yourself or leave your baby’s name in the comments and we will add to the tree on your behalf.

Through his work, Anoop has helped create opportunities for patients across the region to take part in high-quality research studies and introduced innovations in clinical care across Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.

One simple way to help is to remember BRAN when talking about a test, treatment or procedure:

🔵 A – Alternatives: What other options are available?
🔵 N – Nothing: What could happen if we do nothing at this stage?

There’s no such thing as a silly question when it comes to your health. Ask questions, understand your options and be part of the decision.

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our breast health and awareness stand this week.
Our Breast Services team were on hand to chat with staff and visitors, offer advice and encourage important conversations about breast health.

Being breast aware means knowing what’s normal for you and seeking advice if you notice any unusual changes.

A huge thank you to our team for helping to raise awareness and get people talking. 💗

Our monthly Miscarriage Support Group will meet this Wednesday 7 October from 7pm to 9pm at Cosham Community Centre.

The informal sessions take place on the first Wednesday of each month and offer a welcoming, supportive environment for anyone who has experienced miscarriage or baby loss and is looking for emotional support. There is no need to book, and you are welcome to arrive at any time during the session.

The group provides a safe space for anyone who has experienced a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy or medical termination.

Meet Michele, Haemophilia Data and Admin Co-Ordinator, who is sharing her experience of being diagnosed with dyslexia as part of Dyslexia Awareness Week 2026.

Drawing on her own lived experience, Michele also supports colleagues across the Trust as Co-Chair of our Neurodiversity Staff Network.

This year's theme is 'Dyslexia in Real Life: At Work,' led by the British Dyslexia Association.

Our Emergency End of Life Response Team (EELRT) has helped over 300 people spend their final days at home rather in hospital in its first year of operation.

The partnership between Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU), Rowans Hospice, and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust brings together specialist clinicians to provide rapid assessment, coordinated care and expert support for patients approaching the end of life.

Dr Sarah Russell, Consultant Nurse and Trust lead for Palliative and End of Life Care at PHU said: “We’re so proud of everything we have achieved in our first year. What makes the service special is whether a patient is in hospital or at home, as one team we focus and act quickly upon what matters most to them at the end of their life.”
