Is it a bird, is it a plane? No, it's our Voluntary Services Manager Caroline O'Connor, who completed a 15,000ft skydive last month for the Portsmouth Hospitals Charity.

Raising more than £1,000, Caroline described the experience as “amazing”, and her smile in the photos says it all! Thank you to Caroline and everyone who supported her fantastic fundraising achievement.

Our Portsmouth Simulation Centre had the pleasure of welcoming the next generation of aspiring healthcare professionals for an immersive careers experience.

The event formed part of a career exploration week organised by IgnitED, which provides young people aged 14 to 17 with opportunities to discover different career pathways through hands-on experiences and direct engagement with professionals working in their chosen field! The group got to try their hands at laparoscopic skills, cannulation, resuscitation skills, and maternity and neonatal care.

It's Day 2 of Victorious Festival in Portsmouth, and we're reminding you to keep your health the headliner this weekend.

Come rain or shine, we know many of you will be out enjoying the music, food and festival vibes. But if you begin to feel unwell or need medical attention, head to one of the tents across the sites where the team will be able to help.

If you suddenly become very unwell and don’t know what to do, you can call NHS 111 or visit the NHS 111 website. And if you need urgent medical help during the weekend, St Mary’s Urgent Treatment Centre is open and is only a short drive from the festival.

Would you know what to do if someone was having an asthma attack?

Asthma attacks can be life-threatening, so acting quickly is important:

✅ Sit upright and try to remain calm
✅ Use a reliever inhaler if available
✅ For a blue inhaler, take one puff every 30 to 60 seconds, up to 10 puffs
✅ For an AIR or MART inhaler, take one puff every one to three minutes, up to six puffs
✅ Follow the person’s asthma action plan if it gives different instructions

Call 999 if symptoms worsen, the maximum dose does not help or no inhaler is available.

If you feel unwell at the festival, be sure to find your closest medical tent. If you suddenly become unwell, you can call 111 or visit NHS 111 online for advice. Always call 999 in an emergency.

🤰 Flu vaccination for pregnant women

From 1 September 2026, we will be offering flu vaccinations to pregnant women at our Trust.

There is no need to book an appointment- simply come along to Maternity Outpatients, B Level, where our team will be available to vaccinate pregnant people against flu at any stage of pregnancy.

📆 Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays)
🕐 8:30am to 5pm
📍 Maternity Outpatients, B Level
