Today we attended the fantastic Safe Steel Breakfast Club with Sheffield Together: Preventing Serious Violence 💚

Community organisations, businesses and practitioners from across Sheffield explored how the Safe Steel and Let’s Be Blunt campaigns are helping to prevent knife harm while celebrating Sheffield’s proud steel and cutlery heritage.

As Dr Leisa Nichols-Drew said, “Harm doesn’t always come from the things we label as dangerous - often, it comes from what we normalise.”

We look forward to using these insights in our own violence prevention work.

Over 50 professionals attended our Neurodiversity Awareness in Education webinar 💚

3SC delivered this fantastic session to share the strengths of neurodiverse young people and the barriers they may face in education.

Key takeaways:

◼️ 36% of autistic students and 37% of students with ADHD do not complete their courses
◼️ Pupils on special educational needs (SEN) support are six times more likely to be permanently excluded than their non-SEN peers
◼️ Around 50% of those convicted of a crime in England and Wales are likely to be affected by some form of neurodiversity
◼️ Challenges include rigid academic structures, mental health strain, inflexible deadlines and timed exams
◼️ Use symbols and graphs to represent tasks or activities and map out the structure of a day or session

Hull played a key role at the regional Early Help Practice Showcase Conference in Bradford, with local experts spotlighting the city's innovative approaches to early intervention 💚

Our partners from Hull City Council presented on the Young Futures Panel, which works with children and their families to address wider needs through age-appropriate interventions, parenting support, emotional wellbeing programmes and connections to specialist services.

We’re proud to support the programme, which received positive feedback from the conference delegates 🌟
