🍽️ What’s on the menu next week at Countesthorpe Academy? 🍽️

Week commencing Monday 1st June, our catering team has a great range of hot meals and desserts on offer!

Pupils can enjoy favourites such as southern fried chicken, roast pork with all the trimmings, sweet & sour chicken, and cheeseburgers with curly fries, followed by treats like crumble & custard, chocolate brownie, and ginger shortbread.

🌱 Vegetarian and vegan options are available every day, alongside our popular pasta bar and jacket potatoes with fillings.

A tasty, balanced choice for everyone – we look forward to seeing pupils enjoy next week’s menu!

📣 Important Update: PE Kit & 3G Pitch Footwear 👟⚽

We’re excited to announce that our new 3G Astro pitch is now ready for use in PE lessons at Countesthorpe Academy!

To ensure student safety and protect the surface, the following footwear rules apply from Monday 1st June 2026:

✅ Allowed footwear:

✅ AG (Artificial Ground) boots
✅ FG (Firm Ground) boots with round/hollow studs
✅ HG (Hard Ground) boots

❌ Not permitted:

❌ Metal or mixed studs
❌ Bladed boots
❌ Flat trainers or indoor shoes
❌ Astro trainers with dimpled soles

👟 Students without appropriate footwear will complete lessons on alternative surfaces.

📅 What to expect:
Years 7–9 will be notified in advance when using the 3G pitch
Years 10–11 should bring suitable footwear to all Core PE lessons

📦 PE kit reminder:
If your ordered PE top has not arrived, students may wear a plain black top (please email proof of order to [email protected])

👀 We are also exploring a trial where students may wear PE kit on PE days next academic year—more updates after half term!

Here’s what’s cooking in our kitchen next week! Students can enjoy a fantastic range of hot, hearty meals and tasty treats, including:

🍝 Chicken & tomato pasta bake with garlic bread
🥩 Beef lasagne or vegetable lasagne with salad and nachos
🌭 Toad in the hole (including a Quorn option) with roast potatoes & veg
🍛 Chicken curry or vegetable curry with rice and naan
🐟 Fish, chips & beans
🧀 Macaroni cheese or cheese & tomato flan
🍰 Desserts include chocolate fudge cake, iced sponge, flapjack, blueberry muffins and ice cream tubs.
🥔 Plus, our Pasta Bar and jacket potatoes with fillings are available every day.

A reminder for parents/carers of students who have been selected to attend **Area Sports** on **Wednesday 20th May 2026** at Saffron Lane Athletics Stadium.

Only selected students are eligible to attend — students have already been informed, and parents/carers have been sent an email with full event details.

To confirm your child’s place, **consent must be provided via www.parentpay.com by 12:00pm on Friday 15th May 2026**.

📍 Venue: Saffron Lane Athletics Stadium
🕤 Time: 9:30am–3:00pm
🚌 Travel: Students will travel to and from the event on Orbit Coaches
