Good news! We have installed a camera on the junction of Pennington way/Queens mary road. We are receiving positive feedback from residents who have reported that fly tipping has decreased since the camera has been installed.

JCB PotholePro can repair potholes in less than 8 minutes, it was recently purchased by Coventry City Council. We have started using this in some of our roads in Coventry. Please keep reporting potholes in Foleshill and we will soon have them fixed.

Dear All,

I would like to thank the citizens of Foleshill for once again putting their trust in me and not falling for the false propaganda and threats created by the opposition as a part of their nasty tactics.

Assisted by the problems from massive Tory cuts to the council’s annual budget, COVID, the bin strikes with the major problems this has posed throughout the ward, the opposition desperately tried, using all sorts of tactics including using the maximum backing and support from Coventry Confidential, the Muslim Resource Centre (from where the Zia’s opposition campaign was launched), and Unite the Union, AND THEY STILL FAILED!! Lol. 🤣.

This is truly a great victory. I am proud to be elected once again to represent you in the council. I promise to work hard to make Foleshill a better and more vibrant place to live in the coming years. 🙏

My Work & Achievements for the Muslim Community

A special Eid Mubarak to all brothers and sisters,

Over the years, I have passionately worked to bring together the Muslim community so that they have a stronger voice in Coventry. Some of the things I have achieved over the years includes:

New Lentons Lane Cemetery

Last year following complaints from the Muslim community on the appalling state of parts of Lentons Lane cemetery, I initiated, organised and chaired meetings with senior council officials and community representatives including the CMF for a new cemetery and modern facilities. Alhaumdullilah, our efforts paid off and the council have now allotted a new plot of land off Shilton Rd for a new burial site. Work is now underway. It will provide a state of the art drainage system, walking paths, benches on the perimeter, and a Wudu area. The old burial site has been improved with surfaced paths and new benches installed.

Coventry Muslim Forum (CMF)

I have passionately worked to bring together the Muslim community so that they have a stronger voice in Coventry. When I first stood for elections In 2010, I called and chaired a meeting of the Muslim community with Bob Ainsworth MP at the Zeenat Restaurant opposite Zeenat Masjid.

I helped to bridge the gap between the various groups and we unanimously decided that all participating Muslim groups would unite under an umbrella organisation which we named as the Coventry Muslim Forum (CMF). Since then the CMF has successfully worked to advance the interests of Muslims in Coventry and I have had the privilege to serve on its steering committee.

Islamic Education Centres and Mosques

Over the years newer Muslim communities have joined us in Coventry and I have had the privilege to help almost all their representative organisations obtain planning permission for their own community and Islamic education centres, including Masjid Tawfiq, Red Lane Islamic Centre, Masjid Al Falah, Faizan-e-Islam. Currently I am working with the Stoke Aldermoor Muslim community to obtain planning permission for a centre there.

Sisters Organisations

I have also supported organisations lead by sisters on helping, promoting, and empowering women in the community. This work has gained momentum with the election of Cllr Shakila Nazir who is also working with various women groups in the community.

Funeral Services

Furthermore, as Councillor, I have played a key and instrumental role in achieving ‘Out of Hours’ funeral services with the council and speedier Coroner’s services for Muslims in Coventry.

I therefore request your vote and support for re-election on 5th May so that the work may continue. Jazakallah.
